Tony held the umbrella over me while exiting school since we just finished. "Man, sure is a shitty day huh?" "Yeah, it's pouring hard.." Tony stuck his hand out from under the shelter on a stick and shook the water off before putting his hand back in his pocket. "Seems like a great day for a movie." "Can we watch The Shaggy D.A again?" I asked. Tony's eyes lit up all of a sudden and he smirked. "I have a better idea." He grabbed my hand which caused me to blush for obvious reasons and he ran towards town.
"Where are we going?" "You'll see." "This is way farther into town then we've gone before.." "I know." I looked around at different things. This area was a lot more crowded then what I was used to. "This place is busy.." "Yeah, it's kind of the inside part of town rather then just the outside." "Ooh." We stopped at this some what big building with signs everywhere. "Where are we..?" "The theater!" "Theater?" "Movie theater. It's where you can watch the newest movies before they come out on tape!" "Oh!" "Instead of watching something old I thought we could watch something brand new." He let go of my hand which felt kind of bad but I can't blame him and started to walk and point to the posters. "What about this one?" I walked over to see what he was looking at.
It was what seemed like a lady who was being attacked by bats. It was called Nightwing. I stepped back a bit and shook my head. "Looks scary.." Tony looked at me and then looked back at the poster. "Yeah.. I guess so.." I looked around and a poster with bright characters caught my attention.
"Hey what about this?" I called Tony over and he took a look. "The Muppet Movie?" I nodded. "I dunno Q-TIp.. looks kind of babyish," He looked a little closer. "and somewhat like a romance movie." I couldn't stop staring at the bright beam of light in the poster. Is this a sign to tell him?
I looked up at him. He was studying the poster to see if he could find anything he liked. I took a deep breath and went for it. "Hey look it's me." I pointed to the poster. "Huh?" He looked where I was pointing.
"The rainbow?" "Y-Yeah.." "Oh I get it." I held my breath. "You have a colorful personality." I let the air out and began to twiddle my thumbs out of nervousness. "Um.. yeah.." Maybe another time.. "Well Q-Tip.. it doesn't look like something I'll enjoy, but hey, never judge a book by it's cover, right?" I nodded. "Alright, fine." I smiled as Tony walked over to the booth to purchase our tickets.
We walked inside the building which was somewhat crowded but nothing beats the zoo. "Want some snacks?" "Ooh yes please." Tony walked up to get us some drinks, popcorn and a few candy bars for good measure. "Come on, we're in room 3." "Okie." I held the drinks as Tony held the popcorn and the candy bars in his jacket. He opened the door with his foot and tried to hold it open for me, which ended up succeeding. We sat down in our seat numbers and got as comfortable as we could.
"I got us a large so we can share, alright?" "Drink too?" "Yeah? Is that a problem?" "N-no! Not at all." "Alright." I felt guilty about not telling Tony the real reason why I was okay with it, but he's missing my signs so I don't think he's ready to know this bit of info yet. Tony took a sip and offered me one which I denied for the moment so he put it in the cup holder. "Want one of the candy bars?" "Um.. not right now. Maybe when the movie starts?" "Got it." The lights started to dim and the room filled with clapping and cheering. I poked Tony's arm which caused him to drop a few loose pieces of popcorn. "Why is everyone clapping?" "The movie is about to start." "Oh.. that makes sense." "Yeah." I leaned back in my seat and took a chilling breath since I just noticed how cold the room was. Tony must of noticed because next thing I knew I had his jacket over me. Which got me excited not because I wasn't cold anymore but for.. different reasons..
"I didn't know animals could talk." Tony looked like he wanted to say something but decided against it. "Yeah uh.. only certain kinds can, not all." He finally said.
"Can frogs really play instruments and sing?" "Uh.. not all?" "Oh okay." The song that the character played kind of connected with me in a way. It was about rainbows and love.. is this a sign to tell him? I narrowed my eyes up at Tony. He was invested in what was happening. Nah, not yet, but maybe soon.
This one part of the movie caused me to flinch. Tony tapped my shoulder and pointed to the screen. "He's okay Quentin, frogs can hop." "Oh.. sorry that was just- really scary.. imagine being sandwiched with a steamroller behind you and a truck in front of you while you ride your bike.." "Yeah, I'd probably shit my pants to be honest." "..I'm going to go back to uh- paying attention." "...That's a good idea."
"Fozzie kind of reminds me of you." "Who? The bear?" "Yeah." "How so?" "Well.. he's tall, sweet and seems super cuddly.." "Aww. Thanks Quentin. Gee could you imagine us going to Hollywood?" "I could imagine you going to Hollywood." "Nope. We go together or not at all." "Shucks.. what would I do without you Tony?" "Let's not find out." "Agreed."
"You really like the songs huh?" "I guess I never realized.. is there a special name for movies with lots of songs?" "I think the term is Musicals." "Musicals?" "Mhm. Are you a musical guy?" "I guess I am."
"Can bears-" "This one can." "Okay."
"Poor Jack.." "Yeah. That guy is really strict." "I hope they let him go to Hollywood with them." "Me too. By the way, do you want that candy bar now?" "Yes please." Tony handed me one and took one for himself. "Cheers." We bonked them together and started eating.
"Aw.. I hope Jack catches up with them." "Yeah same. He needs to get out of that abusive work space."
"How can a frog and a pig be lovers?" "I'm not sure Tony.." "Pretty weird if you ask me." "I guess it is."
"Did he really pull out a g-gun?" "Yup. Talk about desperate." "When will he learn that Kermit doesn't want to work for him?" He shrugged. "No idea Beck."
"A dog!" "Shhh." "Oh sorry.. a dog." "That's better." "He plays piano." "Mhm." "I think he's my favorite character." Tony chuckled. "Understandable."
"Greeaaaat. A kidnapping." "Do you think Kermit will listen?" "He kind of doesn't have a choice Q-Tip. They have her hostage and soon he'll be next." "Do you have nightmares about when we were kidnapped?" "Can we talk about that after the movie?" I smirked. "Are you saying you like the movie?" Tony's eyes widened. "Well I er-" We were looking at each other for a few seconds until he looked away. "Okay so maybe it isn't as babyish as it looks." I giggled, happy to know I was right.
The scene was really frightening me. The thought of mind control was so chilling I couldn't stop shaking. I felt Tony hold my hand and put his arm around me. "It's okay. I doubt they'll succeed." "Why?" "He's the main character for one and for two this is a kid's movie. That would be too dark." A few minutes later Tony was proved right. The bad guys got defeated. "Told you."
The credits rolled and the room filled with clapping once again. "They achieved their dreams, Tony!" "Yup!" We threw our trash away and walked out of the theater. "Hey it stopped raining." "Yeah!" "Wanna head back?" "Yeah that sounds good!" Tony grabbed my hand which regrew the butterflies in my stomach. "Something wrong?" "Tony.. I'm.." He raised an eyebrow. "Yeah?"
"...I'm thankful you took me here.." "Aw, no problem Q-Tip."
