It had been a full year since Quentin was backstabbed by his former childhood friend, Tony Stark and surprisingly.. things were starting to come together. After months upon months of living in his car and the street.. he was finally able to sleep in a bed but it wasn't easy. None of his job applications were working so he had to get creative. Putting out fliers around the city of London that he'd do small jobs here and there in a desperate last resort for money. It worked.
He had earned a crisp fifty dollars by painting someone's fence. Twenty dollars to mow a lawn. Thirty to walk four dogs and fifteen to forge a signature of a celebrity. Worked to exhaustion he had managed to scrap up a total of one hundred dollars that week.
After months of shop lifting and stealing food or other resources.. his food stamps were finally approved which meant he didn't have to worry about starving to death or dehydration. After working his ass off for the beginning of this month Quentin had saved up about five hundred dollars. He was still skin and bone but he had managed to find a place to stay. Was it a small apartment? Well no, that would have rent. It was actually an abandoned building that he broke into.
He spent weeks cleaning it and making it somewhat livable. A torn up mattress and some pillows with a single blanket. He didn't have electricity or a place to store frozen food so he was still limited in what he could and could not do. However with the cash that meant he could use his car. He even managed to set up a little DIY lab for himself.
Collecting random pieces of junk and buying a small toolkit to get his hobby back. He had little inventions here and there but nothing extreme. His goal was to remake his hologram tech so that he could get the money he deserved. Not Stark. Was it a distraction? Possibly.
He now had some understanding on why Tony hid in the workshop. Dammit he's thinking of him again. Stop. God he needed a drink. A smoke. Something.
Oh yeah, Quentin Beck, the known boy scout was now an alcoholic and cigar smoker. He'd spend most of his days drunk and then work in the morning while recovering from his hangover. With no job to do right now he popped open a bottle and chugged. He didn't want to feel so he wouldn't.
But the more he drank the harder it was to reach that feeling of numbness and it made him push more and more. In fact that's where most of his gas was going to. Driving to bars, clubs or any other place to get drunk. It was a miracle he hadn't gotten a DUI.
Yet.
