I'm bathing in the ashes
breathing in the dust
I cough
my lungs already coated
but I don't care
I have to sort through the ashes
of a ruined person
a ruined mind
and find what I've been looking for
for so long
the ashes of us
they're still hot
they burn my fingers
with the memories
my body is covered
in soot and ink
matching the dark, scorched ground
I can't tell where my body ends
and the earth begins
I'm blinded
my eyes melting into my head
the fire licks at me
