It's been two weeks after the exam. Most of the teachers have already finished marking the exam papers. Today, I got three exam papers for three subjects. All scores are quite good. But the next exam papers we got made all students in class devastated.

Bam!

"All of you failed! There's not even one person who pass! Even the highest score is not even reach 30 marks!" The teacher, Amy, our math teacher is scolding us.

I look at my score again. It's 10/65. I have already calculated the real score using calculator. It's 15%. It's so far from reaching 40%. No wonder the teacher so mad. All students in our class has failed this subject.

"All of you need to do a correction. One question wrong, you must do 50 times the correct answer!" Her statement made all of us groaned. It felt like our souls has left our bodies.

"Make sure you do it. Just use a notebook you don't use. I'm going to check them next week."

More students groaned even harder. We only have one week to finish a who knows how much correction we need to do before the teacher double it up.

"Jane, it's the end for us," I say weakly while leaning on her arm.

"Sigh. My precious weekend to read manhwa," she also says weakly.

Kringggg!

"Get out! Just go eat your lunch!" The teacher started to get more angry when the lunch bell rings loudly, disturbing her class.

"Stand up, class! Thank you, teacher!"

"Thank you, teacher!"

After that, we all run out of the class. Better to get out of her sight quickly, less she found faults with you. I go to canteen with Aya. We don't go there to eat instead...

"Izzy. Nina wants to know Ryder's score on the exam," Aya casually say something I won't ask no matter how much time passed.

"Um.. He got straight A." His answers make my eyes open wide.

"Straight A? In all subject?" I ask again just to make sure.

"Not all. He got B on chemistry. Aside from that, he got A."

"As expected of him. Truly deserved to be top students of all time. Even math he got A. Not like us, can't even pass the test," Aya sigh.

Yes. How could I forget? He's a top student every year. Everytime he will get first place in a batch ranking. Now, even with the increase of main subjects like biology and physics, he still manage to get A in those subjects. He feels too high for me to catch!

"Aya. The more I thought about it, the more I feel like I should give up on him," I say while we just stroll around the school.

"Nina! Why would you give up? He has such a bright future! Don't be like me. My boyfriend not only lazy as hell but also kind of playboy."

Ah, right. Aya got herself a new boyfriend. It's a week before the exam. Her new boyfriend is our classmates. His name is Zack. I don't know what special about him that my bestie want to date him. He's not excellent in academics and not have that good of an image either. He's just a troublemaker.

He's quite excellent in sports and he plays football but he's short. He's shorter than me. So I don't understand why Aya suddenly said that she like him.

"If that's so, why did you date him in the first place?" I ask her a question that has been bugging me for a while.

"I don't know. Suddenly I just like him." Her answer make me speechless. I just shake my head before she ask me.

"Then what about you? Why did you like Ryder?"

"Because of many reasons. Sometimes it becomes difficult to just move on," I say while scratching my cheek.

"Sigh. How come you guys are not having any progress yet?" She says frustratingly.

"I think he just not interested in me. It could also be because he want to focus on study. But possibly, it must be because I'm not his type. You saw me."

I'm a nerd. Wearing a thick glasses, having a bang covering most of my face. Most importantly, I don't have an aura of confidence around me. This should be why I look unattractive to the boys.

"But, Nina! Remember the Eid Celebration? You look completely striking! Even Ryder seems to be flustered when he saw you." Aya's compliment make me blush. I also realize many people seem to be stunned when they see me at that time.

"Should I change? My look, I mean," I ask Aya.

"Yes! Absolutely! I know you're pretty. You have a fair, flawless skin. Your hair is also beautiful. Remember the first time you transferred to this school?"

At the question, I started to remember the first time I enter this school. It was a strange thing. Most of the girls in my class said that I'm pretty. I just give a half-heart smiled at that time because I thought they just want to tease me. And then when it was PE class, I just sat at the corner of the field, basking in the sunlight because I don't wear a uniform for PE since it was my first day of school.

At that time, there was another girl sitting beside me. It was none other than Aya. She glanced at me from time to time and then started to talk to me.

"Your name is Nina, right?"

"Yes. And you are?"

"Aya. Before you transfer here, which school do you attend?"

"It was an All Girls High School. You probably haven't heard of it."

"Then why are you transferred here?"

"Because my brother went to this school. It will be easier if we went to school together," I explained.

"In which form he's in?"

"Form 3. He's two years older than me." After that, we seem to have nothing to talk about and the atmosphere became awkward. I'm not the one who usually started a conversation.

"I'm sorry. I didn't talk much. I really look like a nerd, am I?"

"But you're really pretty."

I'm blushing at that time. Her words sounds so sincere that I can't just brush it off and treat it as a joke. Then we spend the lunchtime together and started becoming friends. Recalling that memories, I look at Aya.

"Of course I remember. Almost everyone said that I'm pretty. But I thought they were just joking."

"How can someone joke like that to a person they just met? You're really pretty. The reason why you're unpopular is because you are always have a poker face and usually quiet. Trust me, you're pretty."

"Okay. Don't misunderstand. I know I'm pretty but that's only when I was outside of school. In the school? Hardly. I know just how nerd I look at school so when people in the school said that I'm pretty I feel skeptical about it," I said.

"Then why don't you dress up yourself just like when you're outside of school?"

"I never thought much about it actually. I myself don't know why I didn't dress up in school when I made sure I look like a model when I went outing with my family or friends." I pondered. I also don't understand why my confidence when inside the school and outside the school would be really different.

"Well, if you're already a model outside of school, you don't need my help then. Do whatever you see best to look pretty." Aya encouraged me and I thought.

'Do I really need to?'

You can't just hide the
beauty behind a pair of glasses.
