When I arrive at the class, the teacher hasn't come in yet. I'm thankful for that since the teacher that will be coming is Mrs. Mugis, our English teacher. She's so strict about students entering her class late. I was walking to my seat when Aya approached me.
"Nina. Where are you going? I thought you said you just want to give Ryder his lunch that you promised him." She shots me a glare. Of course she would. She must have been waiting for me in the library.
"Sorry. I searched for him at the bio lab and ended up spending time there," I say while feeling guilty. Hearing that, she instantly grabs my shoulders and ask.
"You spent time with him at the bio lab? Just the two of you? What did you guys do?"
"We didn't do anything! I just asked him to tie up my hair as compensation since I got scolded because of him," I quickly reply or else she would think about something annoying.
"You asked him to tie up your hair?!" Her voice is so loud that I put my hand on her mouth and look around to find that everyone is looking at us. I give her a death glare. She smiles in embarrassment. After that, we both sit down first before continue.
"But, seriously? That's such an advance move you made," she says almost in a whisper.
"I know, right? I myself couldn't believe just how smooth I was being. He also talked to me just like normal friends do. Because of that, I discovered something."
"Discover what?"
"It seems like when around the other people, we both got shy in front of each other. But when it's just the two of us, we can act like normal. Talking and laughing together. Just like how we used to chat on the phone," I explain. That's what I discovered after comparing the two moments being alone with him and the other moments when there's people around us.
"Now that I think about it, that seems to be the case. You guys were easily blushing around the other people when you guys meet. I never thought that incident would brought you two closer." When she mentioned the incident, I suddenly remembered.
"I forgot to ask you earlier. Are you okay? Have you told your mother about what happened?"
"I'm fine. I also have told my mother by showing her the messages that I screenshot on my father's phone. Just like you asked. After that, we reported it to the police and hand over the phone to them. They will use it to find my father."
I sigh in relief when I hear her explanations. Before she gets in the taxi yesterday, I asked her to screenshot the messages as evidence since her sister would delete it later. There's also a recording of the phone call. Unless her mother is joining hands with her father and sister, there's no way she would doubt her story.
"What happened to your sister?"
"What else? Of course she was driven away from the house. She will be forced to live with her alcoholic and womanizer husband. Serve her right."
"I'm really glad it turns out fine."
"Yeah. But..." Her tone suddenly lost energy which makes me frown.
"But what?"
"Sigh. My mother wants to go back to our home town and live there by the next year. I will follow her. So, this will be my last year in this school," she says dejectedly.
"Why you didn't tell me such a thing sooner?" I ask as I feel disappointed that I have not known about it first in the morning.
"I'm going to tell you in the library earlier. But who knows that you will spend time with Ryder instead. Because, it's just like you said. You guys always look awkward around each other. So, I thought you will quickly give him the lunches and then left." Her explanation makes me speechless. Looks like it was my fault for not asking her sooner.
