After five hours of a long drive, we have finally arrived at the camping site. I get off the bus and search for Aya. She never came to my seat in the bus and busily slept while holding her boyfriend's arm like a pillow. She must be having a moment of her life.
It doesn't take much of an effort to search for her. Her big, pink barbie bag just stand out too much. She is constantly looking around even after she saw me waves at her. In the end, I just walk to her to ask what's wrong. She looks at me with a frown.
"Do you notice anything wrong here?" she asks me back.
"Mm.. Did you mean about the fact that there are many soldiers who guard this campsite?" I guessed before I suddenly have a bad feeling about this.
"Do you think that this could be..."
"No. No way," I quickly deny it. There's no way this could be 'that'! I will runaway if it's really about 'that'.
"Everyone! Make a four lines like you did in the morning!" We quickly did as ordered. Then the teacher start to gather everyone's attention. His expression looks serious.
"I have news to break to you." His statements makes my heart beat so fast. I have a bad feeling. I'm even more nervous because my bad feeling will always come true.
"For your information, we're in a military camp right now."
There it is. It really came true!!!! Being in a military camp means that we will go through the military training! No!!
I sigh when I heard the teacher's full explanation. I have heard the government wants to bring back the military training for citizens who has reached 16 years and above after the covid. They will start doing it in the next year by choosing people on random. That means, what we will be going through right now is only a trial version. If lucky, we will go through the same thing again next year.
No wonder the government is generous enough to support this 'school camping'! For ten days at that! It's actually for this thing! I suddenly felt that all my hard work to pass the exam has been in vain. If I knew this would happen, I would rather failed all the subjects.
"Nina. Tell me, for what reason did you forced me to pass the exam again?" Aya gives me a deadliest glare I have ever seen. If there's a knife in her hands right now, I'm sure she would have stabbed me at the back for ten times already. That's just how scary she looks right now. I begin to take a step back.
"I-it's not my fault! It's the teacher's fault for not explaining it properly to us!" I say to her but she doesn't want to listen to me. She starts to walk closer and closer to me. I turn around and run away from her.
"Ryder, help me!" I go to Ryder, who is having a conversation with Mika. He looks surprised when I suddenly run to him and hide behind his back.
"What's wrong?" he asks. He wants to face me but I grab tightly on his t-shirt, so he can't facing me.
"Aya is going to murder me!"
"Nina!" Aya call out my name with a very scary voice.
"Haa! She's coming! Please be my shield for a while," I beg him and he just sighs. He must be thinking that I acted very childish. But who cares? He doesn't know what it feels like to be the target of that looks. The looks that you're about to kill someone!
"Nina. Come here. Don't use Ryder as your shield."
"A-Aya. L-let's talk it out. Don't give me that look. How am I going to show my face when you have that look!"
"EVERYONE! QUIET!" A voice that resembles a lion's roar suddenly shouts. Everyone suddenly keep quiet. Even the dark aura around Aya has instantly vanished. I let go of Ryder's shirt.
