I went to school with my hair untied today since my ribbon got stolen. But I'm not the least bit frustrated because I know who is the thief and I welcome it. Or maybe that's what I thought before I stand in front of my disciplinary teacher. She has a gaze like a mother of lions.
"Don't you know the school's rules? Who let you go to school with the hair untied? If you want to do that, make sure your hair only reach your shoulder. Not only that, you also wear a lip balm! Wipe it off right now!" she orders while giving me wipes.
I did as she ordered. We're in front of the school gate, so there are many students who watch me as they are passing by. I just lowered my head the whole time she scolded me. And yes, I began to curse Ryder in my head again and again. I hate him for putting me in this situation although he never had the intention to do it.
"I'm sorry, Mrs. Evelyn. I won't do it again," I apologise while bowing down. I don't know what happened to her that got her into a bad mood because usually, she wasn't this strict.
"Make sure you tie up your hair before I meet you during recess. Now go to your class." I nod and then quickly walk away from here.
"Looks like you got scolded at the gate," Aya says when I just sit down on my seat. I turn to look at her.
"How do you know?" I ask. I didn't see her among the students passing by me earlier, meaning that she arrived earlier than me.
"I could see it through the class window. I just want to check if Juna is coming but then I saw you getting scolded by Mrs. Evelyn."
"Ugh. You're not the only one who saw that, right?"
"Yeah. Some of our classmates also take a peek at what happened." She says as if it was truly obvious.
"You must be kidding me. Why did I come to school today?" I groan. If I knew that Mrs. Evelyn is the one in charge of greeting people in the morning at the gate, I wouldn't have come with my hair untied.
"Why did you suddenly change your hairstyle?"
"I didn't change my hairstyle. My ribbon got stolen by someone," I grumble. Thinking about that person make me annoyed.
"Who would stole your ribbon? Your brother?"
"No. It's Ryder."
"What?" She looks at me in shock.
"This is what happened yesterday." Then I begin to tell her about what happened after she left without missing a single details. She lets out a squeal when I told her that he grabbed my ribbon and let my hair loose.
"What is that? A Korean drama? Oh my. This should be film as a movie," she comments. I roll my eyes.
"Thanks to him that I got scolded in front of so many people today," I pout. She grins at me teasingly.
"Don't force yourself to hate him too much. It won't be long before you forgive him anyway," she teases.
"We will see."
💗💗
It's lunch time right now. As I have promised him that I will treat him, I need to fulfil those promises. Even though I'm still can't get over the fact that I got scolded because of him. I'm not sure what to buy for him but I think a packed lunch would be good since he's not always eat at the canteen.
I bought two tuna sandwiches and one plate of fried chicken. I don't know what kind of drink he likes, so I just grab whatever drink I can find. After that, I search for him but he is nowhere to be found. I find Izzy and ask him.
"Ryder hasn't finished his assignment yet. He's in the bio lab right now."
"Is that so? Hmm." I start to think. Should I just give this to Izzy and ask him to pass on to Ryder later? Or I just find him at the lab myself? Ah, right. I need to get back my ribbon before Mrs. Evelyn find me. So I should just go to him.
"Can you let me pass? I need to give this to Ryder. Please," I beg him. Izzy is the one who guard the gate to the staircase today so the students won't stay in their class.
"Okay. But only this time." He open the gate behind him and let me pass. I smile and thank him before going upstairs.
I arrive at the bio lab and I could see Ryder wearing a lab coat. I subconsciously smile when I get to see that. The lab coat suits him. But then I remembered that I should be mad at him so I put on a cold look before enter the lab.
"Ryder." I call him. He turn to look at me before raise an eyebrow.
"What are you doing here?"
"I bought you lunch like I promised yesterday. I left it outside since you can't bring any food into the lab," I give him a monotonous reply.
"Why are you looking at me like that?"
"I also wonder. Why is it?" I still put on a cold look. It's actually hard for me to maintain it in front of him. After all, I always want to show him my bright side instead of this one. And seeing him in that lab coat isn't helping at all.
"I'm sorry. I saw you getting scolded at the gate. It's probably because of your hair, right? I should have give your ribbon right away yesterday," he says. He reach in his pocket and take out a white ribbon. Then he put it in my hand.
"Here. You should tie up your hair quickly. Again, I'm sorry," he apologizes again. I can't stand him for being so sincere.
"You think just apologize would be enough?"
"Then what do I need to do?" I smile as I have waited for him to ask that question.
"You need to help me to tie up my hair. You are the one who untied it yesterday." I hand back the ribbon to him with a comb. Then I turn around so my back is facing him.
"Fine. But don't blame me if it's turned out to be bad," he warns and I just smile. I'm not expecting him to agree right away. It's probably because he felt guilty towards me.
"I don't care. If it's bad, you just need to do it again until it looks good."
After that, he began to tie up my hair. At first, he tied it too loosely so I ask him to do it again. For the second time, he tied my hair diagonally and I don't like it. Only after the fourth attempt that I feel satisfied with the style.
"Hm. It looks pretty decent." I say when I look at myself in the mirror. Then I turn to him and ask.
"How is it? Do I look cute?"
"Hmm..." He just stares at me for a long time. He seems to hesitate to answer my question. I begin to make a poker face and say.
"You're the one who makes me look like this."
"Oh, you look cute. Very cute," he quickly answers. I chuckle at his reactions.
"How insincere," I comment. And then we both chuckles. I wish the time would stop right now and this could go on forever. But I realize it won't happen when I heard the bell rings as a sign of the end of the lunchtime.
"Looks like I need to go now. Make sure you take your lunch I left outside. Bye!" I wave at him and immediately left after that.
