This weekend is the start of the trials for the Sports Day that will be held two weeks later. All students in the school are divided into four groups. Which are called Emerald, Ruby, Sapphire and Topaz. Each group will have to send a person that will be selected in this trial to participate in different sports. If a person win, the group he or she belongs to will get a point.
I belong to Emerald and unfortunately for them, I'm not an athletic person. I'm a reader, there's no way I would waste my time to run on the field in the morning rather than finishing my Sherlock Holmes series. As I read at the corner, I could steal a glance at Ryder, who also in the Emerald like me.
He also not an athletic person. But at least he's pretty decent in sports. He's smart but not as smart as Sherlock Holmes or Moriarty. If they share very similar things, I would say that he is as unromantic as them. Maybe it's something a very smart people will have. As I thought to myself, I didn't realize that I stare at him for a little bit too long until he looks at me and asks.
"Why don't you take a picture instead? You can look at it as long as you want." He smirks and I could feel my cheeks burn. Then I smile at him teasingly.
"I don't bring my phone. Why don't you send me your picture? The sexiest one would be the best." I decided to be shameless to tease him. Unfortunately, he doesn't seem to give me the reaction I want and come to me instead.
"What kind of picture?" he whispers mear my ear. His sudden actions caught me off guard. Why is he suddenly like this? Is this truly the Ryder I know?
"What's gotten into you actually?"
"Nothing. I just want you to taste your own medicine," he says as he back away from me.
"Are you doing it while considering that everybody will be looking at us?" I ask as I bury my face in my novel. Only then he looks around to find that almost everyone near us are looking at us and whispering to each other.
"Ahem! Sorry. I didn't consider that," he says in embarrassment. I glare at him.
"Now they will think that we are in a relationship."
"Shouldn't you be happy about that?"
"Aren't you mad about that?" I ask him back. "I mean, you want to focus on study, right? Aren't these things bothering you?"
"Yeah. You're right. I should just focus on my study," his voices sounds a little disappointed. Then he walk away when his friends are calling him.
After that, he didn't talk to me anymore until a couple of days later. Not to mention talking, even when we passed by each other, he didn't even glance at me like he usually do. I realize that maybe I did something wrong and ask Aya about it.
"Aya. What should I do? He suddenly ignored me after I said that." We are having a lunch right now. Aya participates in a marathon for Sapphire group, so of course she will be hungry after the exercise.
"You said you like him and you want to make him admits his feelings for you. But when he's hinting that he wants to be in a relationship with you, why did you suddenly rejected it? Anyone would be disappointed and confused," she scolds me. It's rare for me to get scold by her.
"Wait. He wants to be in a relationship with me? That Ryder?" I ask in disbelief. It's just so unbelievable to me.
"What else do you think it is?" she rolls her eyes.
"I don't know. But it's not like I don't want to have a relationship with him. It's just... He said he wants to focus on study and I respect that. That's why I never ask for a relationship. Moreover, I just want him to be honest with me that he likes me. I just don't want him to give me butterflies and then act like a stranger because he doesn't want to admit his feelings. That's all."
