How Dark Sonic could've worked in Sonic Prime Season 3

Dark with Rage

(Takes place during the very near end of Season 2)

Shadow made it back to the mountain, just before Nine was about to leave with the shards.

"Nine! Please! I worked so hard to get the shards! I didn't mean for this to go this way! Just let me go home!" Sonic begged.

"Go home? Ha! Sorry old friend. You're not getting back to your old home." Nine said, aiming a blaster at Sonic. "Ever again!"

Nine blasted Sonic at his chest. The blast didn't harm him. But it affected him somehow. Sonic struggled to get up, as Nine walked through to the grim. The portal shut behind him. He was gone. Shadow got pissed at Sonic. As for the blue hedgehog... he couldn't believe it. Any chance of getting his home back... was gone.

"No..." Sonic said, in shock.

Sonic put his hands over his eyes, crying. He fell to his knees.

"No!" Sonic sobbed.

"Sonic!!!" Shadow yelled. "I told you. NOT to trust him! And now we've lost everything!"

Shadow rushed to him in anger. Thoughts in Sonic's mind ran rampant.

"Home doesn't exist anymore... Because of YOU!" Shadow's words repeated in Sonic's head.

"You're not going home. Ever again!" Nine's words repeated.

"That fox was not to be trusted!" Knux's words ranted in Sonic's head.

"It's because of your arrogance, our hope is lost!" Rebel's voice followed after.

"You went too quick!" Tails' words ranted.

"How did I fall in love with someone so careless!" Amy's words yelled out.

"You're more stubborn than I am, when I get tricked!" Knuckles' voice said, in anger.

"You're worthless!" Rouge's voice said.

Multiple rants followed in as Sonic couldn't take it anymore.

"Any chance of getting our home back is gone! And it's all your fault Sonic!" Everyone's voice ranted, making Sonic snap.

"NOOOOOOO!!!" Sonic screamed, as the Shatterverse shook.

Shadow was knocked away from Sonic, due to his scream. Shadow hit the cave wall, and fell on his stomach. He looked up to see Sonic has entered his dark form. His quills darkened black with a dark blue aura sticking up, his hands clenched into tight fists. He stood up, and opened his eyes as they were solid white. Sonic screamed again, as he was infuriated.

"CHAOS, DAMN IT ALL!" Sonic yelled, in anger.

Sonic has gone dark with rage. Shadow was caught off guard, of how Sonic took in all of this. Sonic's heart was racing with anger and exhaustion. Shadow felt himself tense up, bracing for impact as Sonic ran towards him and threw him across the cave. Shadow then realized something. When Nine blasted Sonic, it must've set him off somehow. What had happened was that Nine had blasted Sonic with negative prism energy to end his life and get him stuck in a loop like the rest of his friends have. But instead, it made him angry enough to activate his dark form within a very, very short amount of time. Like it made the negative powers of his dark form unstable. Sonic breathed heavily looking at Shadow, until he felt exhaustion kick in. Sonic fell to the ground unconscious, returning to his normal state.

"Sonic!" Shadow said, worried.

Shadow rushed to Sonic, and shook him to get him to wake up.

"Sonic! Sonic, wake up!" Shadow said, shaking Sonic.

A few minutes of being shook by Shadow, Sonic finally woke up. He turned to his side and threw up a little. Shadow was a bit grossed out. Sonic wiped his mouth, still breathing heavily in exhaustion.

"I... I don't believe it. Any chance of getting our home back is gone... And it's all my fault." Sonic sobbed quietly. "I'm never gonna see my friends again!"

Sonic cried in frustration and regret.

"Sonic..." Shadow felt bad for him.

Sonic looked at Shadow for a quick moment before looking back down on the ground.

"I know... I've ruined everything again. You can beat me to a pulp now, Shadow." Sonic said, in regret. "I know I deserve it."

Shadow felt pity for Sonic. Nine leaving him to rot in the remains of Ghost Hill, as well with being blasted by negative prism energy, may have been enough to mentally break Sonic.

"Tell me what happened after you defeated the prism titan of the Doctor." Shadow asked.

Sonic sniffled and nodded, as he began to speak.

"Okay. After I destroyed that titan, I went to check up on Nine and how the prism restoration was going." Sonic explained. "He told me there was one more shard we missed."

"A fifth shard?" Shadow said, confused.

"Yeah. Nine told me it was in the Grim. I didn't understand why he didn't bring it along to fix up our home as we were on our way back." Sonic continued. "But then... He said he wanted to build a new world. A perfect one. But I didn't want to do that."

"So, when it seemed like he thought you weren't gonna work with him..." Shadow said.

"Exactly. He took off with the shards... and left us to rot." Sonic finished Shadow's sentence. "I'm better off dead. I give up."

Sonic ripped the tech off his gloves and shoes, throwing them over to Shadow.

It seems like Sonic is starting to lose all hope. Can Shadow get him better? Or will this be the end of the blue blur's reputation as a hero?
