A few nights later on one of your shifts at the club, the security guard calls you over during your shift. You approach with a mix of curiosity and caution. It's not always a good thing to get called over for some security reason. However, you're completely taken aback to see Kita standing there.
"Hey, what's going on?" you ask, your voice tinted with a hint of uncertainty. "I'm not offering you any services," you add quickly, worried about what he might think.
"What? No, I'm not here for you... That. I mean... uh," he stutters. "I'm sorry, I didn't mean it like that."
"It's okay, it's fine. What are you doing here?" you then ask him.
"I heard about the guy from last week. He got banned, right? And... uh, I was wondering if you were doing okay."
"I'm fine," you reply, forcing a smile. "I'm glad he won't be coming back, though."
"Oh, that's good," he says, his shoulders visibly relaxing.
"Hey, do you want to get a drink?" you then ask him.
"You don't have to-"
"It's okay, I'd like to catch up," you smile at him.
As you navigate through the crowd, you notice a faint smile tugging at the corners of Kita's lips. A rush of warmth fills your body, and for the first time in a while, you feel safe.
Once the two of you have your drinks in hand, you lead him to the lounge where it's less crowded. With each step, you find yourself drawn to the comforting silence between the two of you.
As you settle onto the couch, you ask Kita how his week has been going.
"Oh, not much," he shrugs, his voice slightly raised to compensate for the music. "We're still really busy with the wedding, though."
"Ah, right, I was invited," you laugh, trying to break the tension. But quickly, your expression changes when you see your manager eyeing you from across the room. You know if he doesn't see money in your hand soon, he'll pull you away from Kita. "Is that why you came here?"
"Yeah, I thought we could just talk," he says, his eyes locked on yours.
"Thanks," you grin, "but I have to make sure you're actually a paying customer."
Kita's expression turns a bit confused as he watches you place your drink down on the table in front of you and place your knees on either side of his legs.
"It's alright," you smile. "If I don't act like I'm doing something, my boss will get pissed," you explain.
"That's a little sad, isn't it?" Kita asks.
"I guess so," you shrug, "but it's for the good of the business."
"If you say so," he replies, not sounding too convinced.
"Hey," you then ask him, "have you ever gotten a lap dance?"
"I'm not twelve," he smirks, and you can't help but giggle.
"I was just asking," you say. "You don't seem like the kind of guy who would."
"Why, 'cause I'm boring?" he asks, raising an eyebrow.
"Not exactly, but maybe because you're shy."
"Well, then you'd be surprised," he says, reaching his hands up your bare legs and settling onto your hips.
"Really now?" you smile.
"Mhm," he nods, leaning his head forward so his mouth is by your ear. His warm breath sends shivers down your spine.
"Are you always like this?" you whisper.
"Sometimes," he shrugs.
"And when are those times?"
"When I'm with someone I'm attracted to."
"Hmm," you hum as he guides you to sit on his lap, "interesting."
"Y/N," he then murmurs, his eyes dark.
"Yes?" you whisper back.
"I have to ask you something."
"Okay."
"Can we go somewhere? Like, not here?" he asks as though he had just changed his mind about something.
"Of course," you nod, biting the inside of your cheek. "My shift's almost over. I can meet you outside in fifteen."

After your shift ends, you quickly change and meet Kita outside the club. The air feels cool against your skin as you step out onto the street, the distant hum of the city enveloping you. Kita leads the way to a nearby bar, the street lamps casting a warm glow upon the sidewalk.
Inside, you slide into a booth and Kita takes a seat next to you, his body pressed up against yours. His eyes lock with yours and you can't help but wonder what he's thinking. But, after a couple of drinks, you completely loosen up. Laughter spills from both of you, the worries of the past few weeks washing away.
"Kita, do you remember when we first met?" you giggle, taking a sip of your drink.
"Of course," he nods, his cheeks flushed pink from the alcohol.
"What did you think of me?" you ask him, curious.
"I thought you were really pretty," he chuckles, running his fingers through his hair.
"Did you really?" you smile.
"I did. And honestly, I was kind of surprised you even talked to me. I mean, we weren't in any of the same classes or anything."
"I just wanted to get to know you," you shrug. "I didn't care about anything else."
"Well, thanks. I'm glad you did," he smiles.
"Me too," you nod, returning the smile.
"Hey, uh, what did you think of me?" he then asks you.
"Hmm," you hum, pretending to be thinking.
"Come on," he laughs, "you must've had a thought or two about me."
"Well, you seemed like a really kind person. I saw you once, helping out an older lady who dropped her bag. You were picking up her things for her. That was really nice of you," you chuckle.
"I did?" he laughs, shaking his head. "Shit, I don't even remember that."
"I guess I'll just have to remember it for the both of us," you giggle, before realizing how cheesy that sounds.
As the hours pass, the hands on the clock inch closer to 2 a.m., and the bartender signals the last call, signaling the end of the night's fun.
"I think that's our cue to go home," you sigh, glancing around the bar.
"Probably," Kita agrees, his expression shifting. "Let's go," he says, grabbing your hand.
You both step outside, a sigh leaving your lips as you gaze up at the twinkling stars above, a sight you hadn't realized you'd been longing for. You try to avoid meeting Kita's gaze, an internal battle growing within you. You can't deny that the feeling between the two of you is real, but the last thing you want to do is ruin this friendship.
