TIMESKIP ~ TWO WEEKS LATER
After a full shift at the coffee shop, you wave goodbye to Mel for the day, gather your things, and leave. On your way home, you stop at the grocery store to pick up some ingredients for dinner. You've been living off leftovers for the past week and desperately need some new recipes.
You make your way through the aisles, grabbing what you need. As you're putting things into your basket, someone bumps into you.
"Oops," they apologize. "Sorry, I didn't see you there."
"It's okay," you smile, looking up at the person.
"Y/N?"
"Kita?"
"I thought that was you," he smiles.
"What are you doing here?"
"Grocery shopping," he shrugs.
"I mean here," you laugh. "At this grocery store."
"Oh, well, the one I usually go to is closed for renovations, so I came here."
"Huh," you hum.
"I haven't seen you around much lately," he then says. "Not since..."
You gulp, thinking back to what your friends had said to you after the wedding.
"Sorry," he apologizes, realizing how awkward the conversation has become.
"No, it's okay," you shake your head. "Things have been crazy lately. I got a full-time job at the coffee shop, and now I'm making enough money to move out."
You begin to recall the last conversation you had with Kita when he told you he wanted you to be his girlfriend, that he was crazy about you, and that he never wanted to let you go again.
And here you've been for the past two weeks ignoring his texts against your better judgement. Against what your friends told you. Because it's what you thought you needed to do to protect yourself. To prevent yourself from getting hurt.
"Congratulations," he smiles, breaking you from your thoughts.
"Thanks," you nod, looking down at your feet.
"Are you busy tonight?" he then asks, and your heart skips a beat.
"No," you shake your head.
"Maybe I could cook you dinner, as a celebration," he suggests, and you can't help but smile.
And then, the words you once told him as to why you can't be his girlfriend, ring in your ear. "It's just, I have a lot going on right now, and I need to figure some things out. But, maybe after I do that, we could try to be together," you had said.
"I think I've figured things out," you suddenly blurt out.
Knowing exactly what you're talking about, he raises an eyebrow, a smirk tugging at his lips. Then, without wasting another second, his lips are on yours, kissing you as if the world might end tomorrow.
You can't help but smile into the kiss, feeling relieved and happy. You wrap your arms around his neck and kiss him back, letting all your worries fade away.
"Kita," you giggle, breaking the kiss.
"What is it?" he hums, pecking your lips.
"We're in the middle of the grocery store," you remind him, feeling your face heat up.
"So?" he smirks, leaning down to press his forehead against yours.
"Someone's going to see," you laugh.
"Let them see," he shrugs. "I miss kissing you."
"I miss kissing you, too," you sigh.
"How about we finish our shopping, and then go back to my place," he suggests, and you can't help but grin.
"I'd love that," you smile.
"Good," he nods. "Let's get going."
After finishing up at the grocery store, you both head back to his place, eager to continue where you left off. As soon as you're through the front door, you wrap your arms around his neck and pull him in for a deep kiss.
"Y/N?" he calls you softly, wrapping his arms around your waist.
"Hmm?" you hum, kissing his jawline.
"Are you sure about this?"
"What do you mean?"
"I just want to make sure you're ready," he explains, caressing your cheek. "You know how strongly I feel about you, and I don't want to rush anything."
"I'm positive," you smile, your eyes locking with his. "I can't keep lying to myself anymore. I know I said I had a lot going on, but the only thing I have to focus on right now is being with you."
"Okay," he smiles, leaning in to kiss you again. "Then can I ask you something?"
"Of course," you nod.
"Will you be my girlfriend?"
"Yes," you laugh, wrapping your arms tighter around him.
"Good," he grins, pecking your lips. "Now, let's go make dinner."
