"For this girl..?", Mrs. Kim squinted her eyes as she looked at Taehyung in disbelief.

"You are doing all this just because of her?", she added and shifted her gaze towards me.

"Don't you feel ashamed? How dare you come between a mother and her son?", she raised her voice, making me finally look at her.

Taehyung was about to speak further but I stopped him by tightening my grip around his hand.

"Are you asking me if I feel ashamed or not because of this?", I asked, looking straight into her eyes.

"When you kept my daughter away from her father for so long?", my brows furrowed as I looked at her with a hint of sadness in my eyes.

She went silent upon hearing what I said. "My daughter has cried for her father all these years. What about that?", I asked and she looked away in response.

"Have you ever once considered her feelings?", I added. "Why should I? Who is she to me?", Mrs. Kim asked in a bitter tone, finally raising her head and looking back at me.

"Your granddaughter", I replied in a firm voice, making her feel short of words. "She is your granddaughter", I completed.

[Author's pov]:

In between this, Ara, who was in her father's arms, watched them raise their voices and say harsh words to each other. She saw them accusing each other of things she didn't comprehend. She felt scared and confused.

She didn't know that they were fighting and she didn't know what to do next but soon she tugged on her father's sleeve and whispered, "Daddy, let me down." Taehyung looked at her in confusion but did as he was told.

She reached out her hand and touched Mrs. Kim's arm, finally grabbing her attention and making her look at her. Ara felt a cold touch as she said in a low tone, "Grandma?"

[Mrs. Kim's pov]:

I stared at her for a while and felt a gap between us that was too wide to bridge but at the same time, I felt a bond between us that was too strong to break. A bond that was too complicated to express.

When I first saw her I did not bother to take a look at her as she was a stranger to me but now that I look at her face she shares the same features as Taehyung. When Taehyung was about her age he had the same eyes and the same nose. It felt like I was seeing his younger version right before me.

Suddenly, I heard her small voice again as she looked behind at y/n and asked, "Mommy, is this my grandma?"

As if she had this question in her mind for a while now. I averted my gaze back at Y/n as she slightly nodded in response.

She replied in a gentle and honest voice, "Yes, love. This is your grandma." And Ara again looked back at me.

"Grandma, do not shout at my mommy. I want my daddy and mommy to stay together", she said in her small voice. Her words made everyone go silent. I felt a pang in my chest, as I heard her call me grandma for the first time and felt some sort of weird connection with her.

I felt the impact of her simple and sincere request and guilt rushed through my body. I felt something cold and bitter within me as I stared at her silently and felt a part of me regretting everything that I did. I have been selfish, arrogant, stubborn, prejudiced, and hateful this whole time.

And honestly, I never cared what others thought of me or said until this kid called me grandma. It felt like my whole world got stopped within a few seconds. I wanted to hear her call me grandma again.
