Feng Yanggu watched as his younger brother ran like the wind. He could run faster and stop him but he knew how stubborn Yanyan was.
"Hey!"
He could hear the younger man yelling even from where he was.
Up ahead, Yao Liheng was walking slowly. Because of his hobbling foot, he looked like he was casually enjoying the gardens of the Feng villa. Except the garden was truly lacking compared to what the Yao estate had.
This was where his son was raised. He probably ran around this garden and slid in the mud when it was rainy. Or maybe he helped plant some of these vegetables.
Liheng's willow leaf eyes curved at the thought then he heard someone shouting behind him.
His world stopped as he turned around.
Feng Yanyan was running toward him but in his eyes, he saw a young child. For a second, his arms instinctively stretched out but he stopped himself.
"You look exactly like your mother." At this moment, he couldn't even begin to describe the happiness he felt swirling with the heartache accumulated all these years.
Fifth young master Feng wasn't aware that he was seeing Liheng's first genuine smile ever since parting with his beloved. He only saw that there were silent tears in the man's eyes and it made him stop in his tracks.
What's happening?
He rubbed his nose. "Well... people say I look a lot like Uncle Ting."
Yanyan decided not to look at the man in case he went hysterical. He really thought Eldest Master Yao was crazy.
"Your mother and your Uncle Ting are twins."
Oh, right. Feng Yanyan forgot about that. Wait. He only realized now that his mother's twin brother was his late love rival.
He was inwardly scolding himself for thinking of stupid things at crucial moments.
Seeing that his son wasn't talking, Yao Liheng took the chance to strike up a conversation.
"What brought you out here? I'm certain Old Master Feng wants to hide you forever."
Feng Yanyan was keeping a considerable distance from him. He didn't trust the man. But because they were inside the Feng villa, he knew Yao Liheng wouldn't try to do anything funny.
Judging from the Eldest Master Yao's words, Feng Yanyan felt that his former guess was true. This man really saw through the curtain and looked in his direction earlier.
"I'm here to ask if what you said was true. In exchange for keeping the identity of the Feng clan..."
"I will bring you home, yes."
Feng Yanyan bit his lip. "But actually... this is my home."
Yao Liheng's eyes widened at this as-a-matter-of-fact remark.
"These people are really obnoxious, if I'm being honest. Especially Grandfather, you probably only met him once or twice but that's only the tip of the iceberg! You should see him every day and he will really get on your nerves. But he's my old man."
He paused to catch his breath.
There was no expression on Yao Liheng's face.
"I am ignorant of all the things that happened in the past. I don't understand the rift between you and them. But I don't want my family to be hunted by the Prime Minister so I guess you can take me." He lowered his head, looking unwilling but without a choice.
