Running on Fumes

External POV
The adventurers were drawn to the sound like flies into the light. They walk through the wide space unable to see their surroundings. The metallic clank begins to sound more industrialized the more they approach it.

Dark figures lift up from the dark. Their slight silhouettes are only noticed by their glowing red eyes peering from the dark, but they don't move. They simply stare at the adventurers as they walk by.

"This narrator is really making this sound really creepy..." Mil says as he slowly steps over some rubble he bumped into.

"These spiders... Why aren't they attacking?" Raph asks.

"I don't know, but I don't like it..." Garil answers Raph.

"I mean... I count about a hundred pairs of eyes all fixated on us. We're at their mercy... Why don't they just finish us?" Raph's hairs stand up when a spider gets close enough to let its decaying breath run down his back. He jumps away from it and the creature simply stares.

Garil shifts his bowgun into a shield. "Just keep your guard up... We're almost there."

They finally reach the light that takes for as a door into a room that gives out a low orange glow. They stand around the door without going in. "Let me look in first..." Garil says as he prepares to take a peek. He sticks his head through and his sight goes blank.

"Garil!" Mil loudly whispers at him. "Garil! What do you see?!"

He pulls everyone back into the shadows. "What's wrong?" Raph pulls away from Garil.

"Shh!!" Garil covers Raph's mouth and pulls him back again. "I had my suspicions... I thought this place was the spider's nest..."

"What?!" Mil says in a panicked voice. "We're in the middle of a spider nest?!"

"No..." Garil says. "Honestly... That would have been better... to tell you the truth... This..." Mil peeks through the door carefully and takes a look at what Garil saw and his eyes look as surprised as Garil.

"Holy crap..." Mil says. "This place is a skeletal spider factory!"

The room was home to giant machine that was fabricating those spiders by the second, technology that was hundreds of years away from them. Biological beings... are being forged by machines and pieces off of other creatures, the other creatures being... spiders... and humans.

Seph's POV
I take Cole and lay her in a hospital room. "I got to stop your bleeding..." I take a look at her leg. It is drenched in blood coming from a deep puncture wound. I rip cloth from my clothing and tighten it around her calf. Her face looks pale... I hope I got to her in time.

The ground suddenly starts shaking like an earthquake is shaking it. The room begins to rumble violently and crumbles under the strain. "Damn it!" I try picking up Cole and drop after a few steps. I go to pick her up, but my body won't respond. My heart burns with every breath I take. I won't be able to get her out of here before the room collapses.

I suddenly freeze seeing her struggling to get up. Her face, sweating like crazy, has a determined look in it. She gets on her two unstable feet and I support her by the shoulder. Cole barely has energy to speak "... L... Let's go..."

She limps out the room seconds before it breaks apart. The haunted looking hallways also fall apart behind us. The only way to run is some stairs leading down. I'm supposed to be going up, but I have no choice now.

When the shaking ends I was still assisting Cole down the stairs which seemed endless. All the exits were blocked by debris except one. It had a perfectly stable looking floor. The only problem was that it was supporting a horde of the spiders. My vision turns hazy as we dash down the spinning stairs. Dozens of spiders are running after us and the stairs also begin to creak and sway until finally it broke on itself sending two near death adventurers plummeting down an endless black pit.
