Monster Hunter: Legends

Parasites part 4

   Garil shoots a smoke bomb at the monster's face. Blinded, it behind lashing out at every minor movement. It chops down trees in one swipe. We are forced to step back away from its range. "Cole!" Garil calls out "You're up!"

   "On it!" She takes aim at the skeletal spider and shoots at the head. The arrow, laced with poison, impacts the skull and ricochets off. "What?"

   "The skull it too strong." Raph says. "We should make a hasty retreat."

   "Are you sure we have everyone?" Garil asks.

   I begin to count "One... Two... Three four five-"

   Everyone looks and says in unison "Where's Dion?!" An explosion detonates somewhere in the forest giving us a hint onto where he was at. The smoke subsides from the beast and it looks at us with its red eyes.

   "Take Mil!" We all shove him down and make a run for it. The thundering footsteps charge after us. It must have eaten Mil and now we're next! It slashes away at the trees clearing a path for itself. The terrain in front of us gets filled with obstacles and the spider only advances towards us faster. Garil trips and falls "Don't leave me you jeeeeerks!"

   "We can't just leave Garil and Mil back there!" Cole shouts at us.

   "Hey you were the first to trip Mil!" Raph shouts back at her.

   Her face turns red. "Alright, since you're mister noble why don't you help them?" she hurdles over a branch while spinning and whirlwind kicks Raph back.
   "You'll pay for this Coooooole!"

   It's just me and Cole now. The beast isn't slowing down by one bit no matter how many comrades we feed it. "Let's split up!" I suggest.

   "Alright! You go left I'll go righ-" She abruptly stops her sentence when she trips over something. Her head bashes into mud and she is left behind.

   "Ah great! I'm alone now." The creature is within sight. It's chopping down trees clearing a path. The blades get close to me as the slice through. I won't be able to continue this for much longer. The blades swipe right at my neck. I duck and turn to the spider. "Ya' missed!" Maybe I should have played attention to the road... I trip over something and the spider tramples all over me. I am left on the floor waiting to meet my end, but the spider ignores me.

   "What's this?" The spider disappears into the woods. I look back at the trail of destruction it lead and see Cole walking in the distance. I decide to go on ahead. "If it wasn't headed for us, then what did it want? I think about it for a while. " The explosion! It's there! And if Dion was responsible for that then... he's in deep trouble."

    I keep walking and arrive at a big wall right in the middle of the forest. "What's this?" Cole walks up to me.

   "This my friend..." I begin speaking "is a wall. You see here in this world we use strong structures to separate us from the outside world an-" Cole's fist impacts me "GWAA!"

   With her fist emanating smoke she says with a ticked off face "I know what a wall is... I mean whats this place? It's a well built structure right in the middle of the forest."

   "Check it out." Raph says pointing to the rooftop that has smoke coming out of it.

   Garil appears behind him "My guess is that this is what blew up. If only there was a way to get in."

   We begin to hear monstrous footsteps approaching. Could it be another big spider?! Nope it's something much scarier. An angry Mil. "You bastards!" He runs at us and grabs Garil and Raph's foot and swings them around his body and launches them at us. "You left me to die!"

   Both me and Cole dodge the incoming to-be-corpses as they smash through the cement wall leaving a Raph and Garil shaped crater.

   "Hey, now we have a way in." Cole says.

   We enter through the hole and a dark room meets us on the other side. it's pitch plack. I can't see a thing. Cole draws an arrow with a flame lit on the tip. She aims at something none of us can see, but shoots with great accuracy. She hit a pile of old cloths lighting them up. The room lights up revealing a sort of old hospital hallway. We fashion some torches with the flaming cloth and other materials.

   "This place gives me the creeps." I say.

   "This place... the architecture, the technology..." Cole says analyzing her surroundings. "It is much more advanced than anything I've seen." Some things stumble over and we hear some rustling.

  We all go one the defensive. A skeleton with yellow eyes peeks out. "It's just a baby." Cole says. "I don't think it can harm us." Cole walks up to it. "Go scram."

   "Uhh, Cole..." Garil says with a pale face.

   "Shoo!" Cole ignores Garil.

   "Uhh... Cole, you should get out of there..."

   "What is it? I'm trying to make this thing... go..." Cole's face turns as pale as Garil's. "...away." The entire hallway ceiling was covered in weird green balls who had just 'hatched' revealing hundreds of skeletons, not to mention the other hundreds peeking out of the hospital rooms. This place wasn't a hospital, or if it was it's not anymore. It's a skeletal spider breeding ground!
