A Fight in the Shadows

External POV
Terrorized by their discovery they press themselves into a corner when they see a hunched over black creature creep out of the room. It was thin with black saggy skin just like the spiders but it stands on two bent legs with claws on its finger tips.

It looked side to side only to go back into the room. "G-guys..." Mil speaks pale and sweating more than a turkey in thanksgiving "We should probably leave."

"Not yet." Garil raises his hand telling them to stay behind. "I'm going to investigate a bit more." He peeks again and looks for the creature they just saw. It is seen operating on the passing corpses. A machine dispenses a live spider that is screeching so loud it makes your ears hurt. The spider undergoes a procedure that morphs the two bodies together making those terrifying creatures.

Raph gasps loudly as he feels something reach out and grab him. Garil's eyes shoot at him. He looks down to see a human hand grabbing him. "Dion!" Raph identifies the person attached to the hand.

Dion's voice shakes and his face looks drained of most bodily fluids. "G-get out of here... It's too dangerous. They'll kill you..."

Garil dismisses him and looks back into the room to find the creature missing. "What the-"

A screech emanates from behind him. All his hairs stand up and he turns to see the monster standing behind him with its claws in the air ready to strike. Garil gets his shield and blocks the attack. He loses balance and falls over only being able to defend against its attacks. Mil rushes over to help, but Dion's grip on Raph doesn't die. "You can't go!"

Raph shakes loose. "It's just one stupid monster. I can take it."

Raph and Mil charge at the monster with all their force and weight backing them up. The creature leaps back and they miss their attack. The creature falls back into the shadows.

"Alriiight." Mil and Raph fist bump. "Let's go get Dion."

They go back to Dion and try and pick him up. He gets up reluctantly. "We have to leave right now..."

"Chill" Raph tells him. "Things are under control."

"No! They're not!" Dion gets on his feet weakly. "That thing...! You don't get it... That thing is the-" A subtle tremor starts shaking the floor. "They're here..." A swarm of red eyes surrounds them. The creature that attacked them comes in from the shadows.

It leers at them and to their surprise, in a rough voice says "Attack."

All the spiders that were staring at them pacifically now attack them viciously. They repelled them as much as they could, but they had the upper hand. It appeared as though they could see in the dark. When none of the adventurers could see, the spiders threw accurate attacks from the darkness.

"Damn there's no getting out of this one..." Garil says shielding himself from blades that pierced at him from the shadows.

"C'mon guys!" Mil spins his lance around knocking many spiders back. "We always get out of these pinches! We're hunters! It's what we do! We need a plan!"

"We need all the help we can get!" Raph looks back at Dion. "Get you're a** over here and fight!"

"It doesn't matter... We're dead anyways..." Dion mutters.

"What if we do make it out?!" Garil lifts Dion up by the shirt while Raph and Mil cover him. "What would you tell all the villagers back at home? Wouldn't you like to say that you had the will to fight to the end?!"

"I-I..." Dion stuffers

"Dude...!" Garil looks at Dion with soul piercing eyes. "Think of the girls."

Raph and Mil are being pushed back by the spiders when they see something dash past them towards the monsters. Dion races at them with new found will power. Unlike the rest Dion isn't exhausted at all. He fights the spiders as any of them would do in their prime.

"H-how is that possible?" Raph's jaw drops. "He was immovable a little while ago."

Mil puts his arm around Raph. "True men fight with their hearts, Raph... True men fight with their hearts..."

Garil walks in from behind them. "It's still not enough... We just bought time. At our level... there's no way we could beat all of these. We don't even know how many spiders there are here. We'd need a miracle to make it out of here alive." He says with a grim expression as he poses to join the fight again.

"Let's go..." Raph and Mil get back into their battle stance. "It has been nice working with you guys. Let's go out with a bang." They exchange fist bumps and run to the battle field.

The ground starts shaking and they all stop. There is the sound of something descending on the roof of the basement. Everyone stops as they try to keep balance and so do the spiders. The roof can be heard cracking more and more until it finally collapses sending flights of stairs crashing down on top of all the spiders.

Cole and Seph also fall off of the wreckage. The rest of the spiders look back at the hunters. "Oh, would you look at that! An escape route!" Garil says. "Everyone, strategic retreat! Help Seph and Cole up!"

Mil, Raph and Dion go to their aid. Cole is unconscious on top of Seph. All the other guys look at him with devilish eyes. "This (the following is too vulgar to post on wattpad so I'm covering it with this parenthesis) is hogging the only female on the team!" Mil says. "Can you believe him?!"

"You know. I never liked him." Raph adds.

"Let's feed him to the spiders!" Dion cracks his fists.

"Would you horny bastards shut up already and help us up!!" Seph's eyes show the same devilish red that the spiders give off.

Garil, upon investigating the area, says "Everyone! There are stairs on the other side! We can make our way up through here!"

Everyone takes advantage of the absence of spiders around them and made a run for the stairs and so their race for survival continues.

Ha-ha! Another early update! Just because I'm awesome :3. Also I fixed the crosses to look like swords (at least I see them like swords) ††† they look awesome to me and 100% non-religious. (Not like I'm atheist... You get the point! Jesus!)
