Kateys p.o.v I smile warmly "Good morning Mrs Lowman how are you this morning" the woman smiles at me "Good morning Doctor, you saved my life yesterday I cannot thank you enough" I smile and before I can speak her face lights up as the door opens revealing Happy "mi hijo" she says happily making him smile "Good morning Ma, Morning Doc" the woman slaps her sons arm "mostrar algo de respeto a la chica bonita" (show some respect to the pretty girl) he rolls his eyes at her and sends me a wink making my cheeks heat up "Good Morning Dr Nars how are you today?" I giggle at his attempt to be a gentleman infront of his mother and shake my head "I'm fine Mr Lowman, now Maria your surgery is scheduled for in an hour, the nurses will come and prepare you for surgery shortly... I understand Dr Namid came in this morning and briefed you on what we plan to achieve ?" She nods tightly as she holds her sons hand looking to him in worry he speaks low enough that I can't hear what his saying but I know that he is trying to comfort her she looks at me "be honest with me Dr Nars.... Am I going to survive this" I felt all of the air leave my lungs this is a question she needed answer but I knew I couldn't possibly give her that answer because I can't promise it will go well I couldn't promise it would go bad ... it's just something you shouldn't do as a doctor.
Happy looked at me with pleading eyes and I look back at his mother "your in very capable hands Mrs Lowman between myself and Dr Namid I'm positive that we will get you in and our of there as soon as we can" she nods and I smile giving her a small nod and leaving the room, as I walk down the corridor I hear a voice call out to me "Katey !" I turn seeing Happy walking towards me he stops infront of me and I frown "is everything okay?" He nods "yeah no everything is fine I just.... Good luck" I smile in his own awkward way he was quite sweet "I'll look after her Happy" he nods slowly touching my cheek but before he can say anything more his phone rings and he growls slightly as he tears his hand away reaching for his phone "what" he answers it staring me dead in the eyes "ok give me an hour and I'll be there" he hangs up and I lean forward rubbing his shoulder "go see your mum Happy"

We all circle around Mrs Lowman as we operate on her "did you see the Sons in the waiting room yesterday?" One of the nurses asked as Dr Namid and I worked he chuckles "Mrs Lowman is one of their mothers" another nurse scoffs "I can't stand those criminals it's a wonder such a sweet lady raised one of them I roll my eyes looking at them "look can we not talk shit about her son while we try save her life, I don't want that kind of negativity around me" Dr Namid stops what his doing and looks at me before looking at the nurse "change the subject nurse Lisa" she looks at us nervously "I'm sorry it's just...doesn't their life interest anyone else" the other nurse scoffs "no Lisa they're criminals"
I wash my hands after surgery and Dr Namid walks over "everything okay Dr Nars?" I smile cruelty "if you'll excuse me Dr Namid I have to go tell a criminal that his mother is alive" I grab some paper towel drying my hands before I storm out of the room. In L.A we operated on all kinds of people, it didn't matter who you were or what you did ... all it meant was another opportunity to save lives I round the corner in the waiting room seeing Happy, Gemma and a woman I hadn't met yet both women held his hands making me smile softly it didn't matter what had happened during surgery all that mattered was I had just helped save his mothers life and at the end of the day seeing him sitting here right now showed me that it didn't matter who you are or what you have done in your life the moment you mamma is sick your world stops.
"Happy" he looks up at me shooting out of his chair his eyes full of hope "how'd she.." he stops himself and I smile warmly "Happy your mother is okay she's in recovery now surgery went well and we got the tumour out.. she still has to recover but both myself and Dr Namid are pleased with the outcome" he didn't even hesitate he pulled me into a hug and I'm met with the smell of leather cigarette and men's Calvin Klein "thank you Katey" he whispers in my ear
