Kari couldn't help but worry as she hoped for everything to be going well during Suno's campus tour. She knew that her departure was imminent, and her priority was ensuring her children's safe learning environment while she was away.
As she made her way to the school, she crossed paths with an old friend, who greeted her with a familiar nickname.
"Well, look what the cat dragged in. Is that you, Fire Lily?"
Kari couldn't help but sigh, "I told you to stop calling me that. My adventure days are practically over, Argast."
Argast chuckled, "I'm well aware of that, just teasin' you. So, how are the kids? I heard the oldest is in school already."
Kari replied, "Yeah, it's still hard to believe both of them awakened so early, one at 7 and the other at 4. They both ranked near 100% for fire magic, so they've become really eager to learn everything they can."
Argast sensed a hint of disappointment in Kari's voice and probed, "Why do you sound disappointed?"
Kari confessed, "It's just... I have to leave for another emergency just when things are finally settling down."
At that very moment, Kari's school device rang, interrupting their conversation. She quickly answered it, and a teacher on the other end asked, "Is this the parent of Izuna and Suno?"
Kari confirmed, "Yes, it is."
The teacher continued, "I'm sorry to call you down here so suddenly, but it seems your children got into a fight on campus today. While fights at school aren't uncommon—in fact, we encourage them to a degree.."
Kari's eyes widened as she interrupted, her protective instincts flaring. "Wait, my little girl would never hurt a fly."
The teacher's tone shifted, and she delivered the shocking news. "This isn't about Izuna. You see, I'm not sure how I should say this, but Suno beat up two students before he was stopped."
Kari's disbelief was palpable as she grappled with the revelation. "How is that even possible? Besides, a teacher should have met Suno when he got here."
The teacher attempted to clarify the unique situation. "Due to the unique situation here, we are willing to overlook this incident."
Kari, her mind racing, could only manage a stunned, "Can you take me to them?"
The scene transitioned, and Suno found himself waking up in Izuna's arms.
Suno's eyes fluttered open, finding himself cradled in his sister Izuna's arms. The room they were in appeared unfamiliar to him. He blinked in confusion and whispered, "Where are we, sis?"
Izuna responded in a hushed tone, as if they were in a fragile situation, "We were taken to the office. We got in trouble."
Suno's realization hit him like a heavy weight. I got her in trouble because I couldn't control myself. Doubts filled his young mind, and he thought, It's strange. It felt like I wasn't entirely in control of what I was doing. Maybe my mind and emotions are broken.
Regret surged within him, and he looked at his sister, trying to convey his feelings. "I'm sorry, sis. I didn't mean to get you in trouble. I just don't like how they talked about you."
Izuna's eyes softened as she spoke, reassuring her little brother, "Suno, no, it's my fault. If I were a stronger person, I would have handled them a long time ago. It's because I'm weak that I didn't do anything, and you had to get hurt."
Determined and protective, Suno made a promise. "Don't worry, sis. I'll always be there to protect you. Always."
Kari, burst into the room, addressing them both urgently. "Kids!!"
