a/n- because I'm currently sick and I thought of this last night
A persistent head cold had knocked you down, and you found yourself on the couch, wrapped in a cozy blanket, tissues scattered around you. Vegeta, your boyfriend, wasn't exactly known for his nurturing side, but he'd been taking care of you the best he could.
As you lay there, you watched him bustling around the kitchen, making a warm bowl of soup. You couldn't help but feel restless and slightly guilty for not being able to do anything. Vegeta had been insisting that you rest, but you couldn't stand feeling so helpless.
Eventually, you mustered the strength to get up and start tidying up around the house. It was a small attempt to feel productive and not be a burden to Vegeta. You were halfway through wiping down the kitchen counter when he walked in, a bowl of soup in hand.
"Get back on the couch!," he grumbled, his stern gaze locking onto you.
You sighed but complied, slinking back to the couch. "I just felt bad sitting around and doing nothing," you admitted, your voice hoarse from the cold.
Vegeta set the soup down on the coffee table and sat next to you. His expression softened, just a fraction, but it was there. "You should be resting, (Y/N). That's how you get better."
You nodded, understanding that he was genuinely concerned about your health. "I know, it's just frustrating."
He watched you for a moment, and then a small idea seemed to form in his mind. "Wait here."
Vegeta left the room, and then you heard the front door close, you couldn't help but wonder what he was up to.
He returned about half an hour later, holding a new manga volume in his hand. He handed it to you, a hint of a smile tugging at the corner of his lips. "Here, occupy yourself with this. I know you've been waiting for the latest one."
You took the manga, your eyes widening in surprise. "You remembered?"
Vegeta shrugged, trying to appear nonchalant, but the warmth in his eyes gave him away. "It's hard to forget something you've been talking about nonstop."
You chuckled, touched by his thoughtfulness. You leaned over and gave him a quick kiss on the cheek, which made him blush faintly.
"Thank you, Vegeta. You didn't have to do this."
Vegeta huffed, "Don't get used to it. I can't stand seeing you sick and unhappy."
You smiled, feeling grateful for his care and understanding. "I'm lucky to have you, even if you do boss me around."
He raised an eyebrow, a faint smile playing on his lips. "Well, someone has to keep you in line."
As you settled back on the couch, you opened the manga and began reading. Vegeta joined you, his arm around your shoulders. He might not be one to show his emotions easily, but in that moment, you could feel the depth of his care and love, and you couldn't have asked for a better caretaker.
Together, you spent the day reading manga, occasionally sipping soup, and sharing moments that deepened the bond between you. Vegeta might be a warrior, but he was also a source of comfort and support, especially when you needed it the most.
