⚠️trigger warning: panic attack⚠️
'Small things sometimes mean a whole lot!'
- DanTDMCHARLES' POV
The day was finally over. He had made it through the press conference. The two hour team meeting and then the fan meeting. Now he was looking forward to going back to the hotel, eating dinner and going to bed.
He was just on his way to the parking lot when his cell phone rang. He fished it out of his pocket and saw that it was his sister. He pressed the green icon and held the phone to his ear.
"Hey Luise, everything okay?"
"Hey Charles, do you have a minute?" she said, stuttering a bit, if everything didn't fool him she was always pacing rooms.
"I'm just on my way to the parking lot, so yeah. Why?"
He was actually a little puzzled by this. The last few days his sister had never seemed to ask for anything, especially for help.
"Can you distract me? I'm afraid I'm going to have a panic attack."
Charles was immediately worried when she said it. The last few days his sister had been having regular panic attacks. It was not yet the worst form they knew of her, but that they had returned at all had not been a good sign. Still, he was glad she had decided to call him and ask for help.
"Of course. I can tell you about my day if you want," he suggested therefore.
"Yes, please." she said softly.
"You know I went to the track with Arthur and Lorenzo right after breakfast Then at eleven I had the press conference. Well, as you can imagine, there it was again the same as usual. I mean, you know it yourself. How do you see your chances. Are you happy. What will be the difficulties. Blah. Bla. Bla.", he started to tell and continued walking towards the parking lot.
"Oh yeah. Who's going to be your biggest competitor. How prepared do you feel. Always the same.", he heard by the tone of her voice how she put on a slight smile.
"You said it. But sometimes it just has to be," he laughed now.
"You're right again.", there was a short pause, "And what was on the schedule then."
"Team meetings." he groaned.
„Also important," she said, "But I know how you are."
A little laugh echoed through his phone, and he was glad she had calmed down a bit.
"Of course it's important. But sometimes everything gets told twice and three times, then it gets boring. Or if it's about Carlos, then on principle, I don't have to listen. Besides, I'm a practical type anyway."
"I know. You'd rather drive than have meetings. But I think that's how every driver feels."
He walked the last few feet toward the parking lot, where he already saw the red Ferrari plus driver that would take him to the hotel.
"You're right about that again."
"I'm right quite often," she laughed again.
In fact, he didn't know the last time he heard her laugh. The last few days she had been silent, just crying and not appearing. A smile had not crossed her lips then. Maybe he needed to have casual conversations with her more often. And not limit his conversations with her to the serious topics.
"Have to admit, yes. You're the smartest of the four of us, anyway."
"I do think Lorenzo is the smartest, but I'm not going to argue with you. Doesn't work anyway."
