LANDO'S POV

"So you want to keep on training for now?" he asked, not taking his eyes off the road.

She was sitting in the passenger seat of his dark blue McLaren. Even though she loved driving herself, he had always driven so far. No matter where they went.

"Yes, I feel really good about it. Seeing the whole team again makes me happy. I'm glad that I've started again. Thank you."

"Why are you thanking me?" he said with a laugh.

"Because you helped me make the decision."

Her adorable smile stretched across her face. Her eyes sparkled and he was so glad that she seemed to be okay. She survived the fall. Fighting her way up every day. And he can't help thinking that he had something to contribute to that too.

"You don't have to thank me for that. You know that."

He stopped on the street in front of her apartment block and then looked at her with a smile. Their eyes met, as they had many times before. She had dressed even more beautifully than the last time they had met. At least that's how he felt. She was wearing a short black skirt and a long-sleeved wine-red shirt over it. Her hair was in waves and she had dark red diamond earrings to match her shirt. Her blue eyes literally shone at him and her pale skin didn't match the fact that she lived in Monaco. Yet it all went together. He couldn't imagine what she looked like with tanned skin. He loved it when he saw her blush because then he knew she felt the same way he did.

He bit his lower lip at the sight of her. He would like to take the next step. But he didn't know what it would be or whether it might be too soon.

"Maybe you'll park your car properly," she said softly and smiled.

His forehead creased. Why should he do that? Did she want to take the next step? Did she want to talk to him any longer?

"Then you could come upstairs to my apartment," she continued, smiling, but you could tell she was unsure because she was playing with her hands.

He was amazed. She had really taken the next step, even if it was only to invite him to her apartment. Because neither he had been to her apartment nor she to his. And he could imagine that it was a big step for her to invite him over. She had to trust him. And that made him nervous. He couldn't do anything wrong.

But at the same moment, his heart beat even faster. He felt warm and his body tingled with excitement.

"So only if you want to. You don't have to, of course. It was just-" she suddenly said uncertainly. He had probably waited too long to answer.

"I would love to take you up on your invitation," he said with a smile and reached for her hand, which she was still kneading nervously.

Even though he had accepted the invitation, she was still nervous. She glanced nervously from left and right and her eyes showed uncertainty.

"So really, only if you want to. You don't ne-"

"I would love to come to your apartment with you, Luise," he interrupted her and squeezed her hand even harder.

He put both hands back on the steering wheel and parked in a nearby parking lot. He switched off the engine and unbuckled his seatbelt. Luise also unbuckled her seatbelt and opened the door, which she now knew how to open.
