Player's POV

If Player could describe this situation in one word, he would use the word stressful.

Carmen Sandiego was so close to finding her biological mother and knowing her real name. She already found out what happened to her father, and VILE is so close to being thrown into jail. But they just had to slip through their fingers again.

Player's hair was a mess, his eye bags dark, his stomach grumbling. He has probably spent over 7+ hours straight staring at his computer and browsing the internet. No taking breaks for food, water, or taking care of his actual life. His focus has only been about finding Carmen's mom and tracking down VILE.

After looking at the same screen and coming up with almost nothing, he sighed. Team Red wasn't even awake right now. They were in a different country in a different time zone. If only they could wake up and give Player some reassurance.

Groaning, Player finally sat up from his gaming chair. He turned off his computer and ran a hand through his disheveled dark hair. He really should grab a bite to eat or something.

Player checked his phone for the first time that day, looking at the notifications he missed. Uploads from his favorite YouTuber, updates about a game he plays, random news about the prime minister of Canada...

Huh. Someone messaged him. Four hours ago. About meeting up at his favorite fast food restaurant.

Player opened his messages app and read the text fully.

Y/n: Hey Player, wanna head to <insert name of restaurant> and grab a bite to eat? It's okay if you don't want to, I understand.

...

Oh. Y/n. They were the one who made the text.

At seeing the text, something in Player's heart warmed, making him relax a little. He let out a breath he didn't know he was holding. Why did y/n's text make his body less tense?

Darn it. Player didn't see this text until now. They probably think he's ignoring them. Or that he was too indulged in a Carmen Sandiego caper to check his notifications. Which was true.

Was it even worth it to text back at this point? What if they aren't able to go to the restaurant anymore? What if their feelings are too hurt from him not responding? Did he just mess up another part of their friendship?

Player grumbles and typed hastily on his keyboard.

Player: sure ill go with u

Player: wht time

He sighed for the hundredth time that day. Hopefully that was enough. Player should really stop putting his phone on do not disturb.

Y/n's POV

Ugh.

Checking back and forth on your phone every ten minutes was tiring. Player was not responding at all.

He hasn't even read your text yet. Did he turn off his read alerts? Or is he really just not going to open your text?

This was getting annoying. He is probably just ignoring you. The last time you talked to him, it ended in a massive argument. It's understandable to ignore someone after basically dumping them, but not even opening iMessage and reading the text is just rude. Player really is a pain in the butt.

After about four hours, a notification buzzed from your phone. You quickly ran to grab your phone to see what it was.

A sigh of relief came out your mouth seeing Player's icon on your screen.
