Y/n's POV
It was nearing the end of school, which meant summer was coming up. You were beyond excited for summer break. No school, more time to spend with Player, more time sleeping in your cozy bed.
It's been a while since you and Player made up. He has been on multiple missions with Carmen Sandiego and the crew, but Player doesn't let you have any insight on his plans and what's VILE up to. He doesn't even let you say hi to Team Red through the screen.
Every time you try to invite him somewhere to hang out that's not his favorite restaurant, he always says he's busy with a caper. Which you understand (because you've literally been on one of those capers and know how important & dangerous they are), but you do wish Player would take a break in a while. You've already asked him about it, but he always says "Carmen's life is in danger" or "we're so close to catching VILE".
You sigh, wondering what sort of mission Player is doing right now and if he's succeeding. It seems like VILE is a really tough group to capture. Team Red has been trying to defeat them for years after all. You wonder if this is all simply a misunderstanding and could be solved with the right steps. Maybe you should step in and help Carmen Sandiego arrest VILE once and for all. As much as that sounded like a cool idea, you know your family, Team Red, and Player wouldn't let you.
While you were doodling in your notebook, your mother walked in your room. She was holding her phone in her hand, presumably in the middle of a phone call. "Y/n! Do you want to come with the Bouchards to a local flower field? I heard there's lots of beautiful flowers there!"
A flower field? With Player's family? Your mind immediately said yes, but you had to ask to make sure. "Is Player coming?"
Your mom repeated your question to whoever's on the phone and said, "Sorry sweetie. Player's busy. Apparently he's acting really moody. Probably one of those teenage mood swings."
Sighing, you nodded. "I knew it. I'm not going."
Your mother spoke to the person she's calling again and exited your room. You glanced out the window towards Player's house, disappointed. Hopefully Player's doing well. These missions are messing with both his emotions and your heart.

Player's POV
Gray.
The man who has been by Carmen's side before Player even knew her.
Carmen's former best friend and partner-in-crime.
Now trying to kill her.
Player didn't have access to communication with Carmen because her earpiece device is gone. Now he has to use his tech knowledge, trying to find a way to spectate the fight again. So much has happened, it was stressing him out. Ivy, Zack, and Shadowsan know more than him since they're at the scene in person. This was frustrating being only able to help through a screen.
He groaned after his mom asked him to spend time with Y/n's family at a flower field. He would've jumped at the opportunity, but Team Red was way more important. If only this was scheduled at a better time.
Player told his mother he wasn't going, and she quietly exited his room. At least his mom was understanding. But he still felt bad.
After a couple minutes of cursing at his computer and realizing Team Red has this handled without him, he sent them a quick message and got up from his chair.
Ouch. The pain of his muscles cramping from sitting in one spot all day was agonizing. Player nearly tipped over because of his numb legs. He stretched, his body feeling like a pile of mush. Then he left his room.
