Y/n's POV

The last day of school has finally arrived. You wanted to stay home since you knew you weren't going to be doing anything educational today, but your parents refused. So you hopped on the bus along with eager students.

Resting your head against the window, you couldn't believe this was the last time you were going to be riding the bus to school for this grade. Even if you weren't here for more than half the school year, you still felt a bit sentimental about your classes. You weren't going to be sitting in those rooms with those teachers ever again. Unless you, well, failed your grade and got held back. The mere thought of it made you cringe.

Keeping those thoughts at bay, you glanced at the kids around you in the bus. The boys in the back were wrestling each other, the girls in the front were doing their makeup routines, and the students in the middle were on their phones. You sat more towards the back, doing nothing but staring at the houses passing by.

It's strange but not strange that you didn't make any new friends this year. Sure, you've made some acquaintances, but no 'BFFs' to gossip with on your way to school. The only true friend you've made here in Canada is Player. And you're not sure if you want it to stay that way.

All the kids here were already familiar with each other. Each person is involved in a group or clique of some kind and there's hardly any room to squeeze in a stranger. Which leaves you, an outcast, eating at a lunch table alone with random people who pretend you aren't even there.  You haven't cared much for it, but a part of you still wants to make friends.

While engulfed in your thoughts, a girl taps your shoulder. You whip your head around and she says, "Hey. We need one more person, do you want to play Uno with us?" Her other friends look at you expectantly.

You tilt your head, not used to being invited to games like this. You're used to quiet rides to school with no one bothering you. Maybe today's different since it's the last day. Reluctantly, you nod, and you join the group playing a competitive game of Uno. Looks like this day is starting off with surprises.

You continued to play 10 more matches after the bus ride in class. You ended up losing most of them, but you still had fun. Your classmates didn't mind having you playing. Especially a few specific ones who showed you interest.

The students in your class who weren't playing were singing karaoke, coloring pictures, or using their phones. If you hadn't been dragged into playing cards with the group from the bus, you'd probably be in the phone group, rotting your brain on Wattpad until the end of the period. It's impressive how you've changed within the few months you've lived in Canada.

Once the bell rang, the kids whooped and hollered down the hallway. You tramped past, watching all your classmates go by. A smile appeared on your face. School is over! Summer's here!

Sauntering onto the bus, you sat down and pulled out your phone. You hastily opened the Messages app and texted Player. Your wide grin remained as your mind drifted to everything planned for the break.
