The audience cheered loudly as the girls' performance came to an end.

They all took a second to do a quick ending fairy, making cute poses and sending bright smiles to the camera before it stopped.

Tonight is the Melon Music Awards, and the girls had a very important and highly anticipated performance.

It had gone well... except for Lily's high note.

As the lights went down, Lily hung her head in shame and sadness.

The girls made their way backstage and right away, Lily ran into your arms.

She had tears in her eyes as you wrapped your arms tightly around her to hold her tight.

"It's okay, baby." You comfortingly said.

Lily shook her head as she clung to you.

She can still see the looks on people's faces in the crowd.

When she did her high note, she messed it up as her voice cracked.

It cracked so bad that it almost gave out on her afterward and she was left feeling so disappointed in herself for the rest of the performance.

She's been fighting a bad cold.

She's pushed through everything, even when she was exhausted and felt so sick.

But tonight, her voice nearly gave out and she couldn't do her high note successfully, which is something she's never had a problem with.

She saw the look of shock and even disappointment as people stared at her.

And now, she feels so ashamed of herself.

She knows she's talented and she knows she has a great voice and she's usually so confident in that.

But tonight, she felt as though she'd let so many people down.

She feels as though she let the fans down, the girls, you, and herself, too.

But, thankfully, that's what she had you for; to comfort her and fix those doubts going around in her busy brain.

"Lily," You started to say, only for her to interrupt.

"I screwed up. Did you see the looks on their faces? Some of the fans looked so disappointed."

"If your fans are disappointed in something like that, then they are not your fans, Lily." You said.

She sighed as she pulled away from the hug.

"I've always done so great at high notes. I've never had any problems with doing them. This was such an important performance and I screwed it up for all of us."

"You did not. Don't talk like that, baby. I know you messed up and it didn't turn out like you'd practiced but it happens. It was a mistake."

She sniffled as you dried her eyes.

"I can only imagine what people are saying online."

"Screw those people. Baby, I know people hold you to a high standard. I know you're insanely talented and I know you put a lot of pressure on yourself. But you're not just an idol, you're a person. You're going to make mistakes and you're going to mess up sometimes."

She sighed as she gazed into your eyes.

"Some people might say things but everyone knows they're untrue. Your tiny little mess up tonight doesn't change anything. You're still so talented. Your fans love you. You have a great voice. Don't doubt yourself."

"I can't help it." She mumbled.

"Lily, you're beautiful. You're talented. You have an incredible voice and it's my favorite sound in the world. You don't have to beat yourself up. It's okay that you messed up. Your fans aren't going to hold it against you. They're going to love you more for knowing that you make mistakes too. The ones that say negative things don't matter."

She knew you were right.

And as you caressed her cheek, she leaned into your touch and smiled slightly.

"I still believe in you. I still think you're unbelievably talented and I hope you stop being so hard on yourself. It's okay to make mistakes sometimes, it happens to the best of us."

She nodded before pulling you in for another hug.

There were no tears in her eyes this time and her embrace was looser because she was more at ease.

And it was all because of you.

"Thank you, darling. I needed to hear that."

"I know and everything I said was true. I meant every single word. I love you, Lily."

"I love you more." She smiled before pulling away again so she could kiss you softly.

"And I'm proud of you. Don't forget that."

Her heart fluttered over your words and she pulled you closer as her lips continued to move softly against yours, feeling beyond grateful for you and how you're always there for her.
