Vergilia and Jake were sitting in the bus on the road to Jake's father's house. They were supposed to meet with him on the bus station. Jake felt uneasy all the time, while his girlfriend napped with her head on his shoulder.
After almost three hours in the bus, they were on the spot. They got off the bus and took their luggage, before Jake started looking around, trying to spot his father. It didn't take long for their eyes to meet. Jake's father walked up to them with a wide smile on his face.
-Hey, long time no see. - he said. - How was the travel?
-As good as it can be in the public transport. - Jake answered.
-I told you I could pick you up. - his father reminded.
-And I told you I didn't want to. - Jake retorted, before he took a deep breath and wrapped his arm around Vergilia's waist. - This is my girlfriend Vergilia. - he said. - Vergie, this is my father, Anthony.
-Nice to meet you. - Jake's father said and shook Vergilia's hand.
-Likewise. - she smiled.
They got in Tony's car and with that, they drove to his house. Tony started telling them about what was going on in his life for all the time he didn't see his son, but Jake didn't listen. He didn't care. After so long without him in his life, he learned to live without him.
The road lasted around another half an hour. When they got out of the car, Jake looked around. Nothing changed around there. Same small house, same forest nearby and the same huge barn on the other side of the yard. He grabbed his suitcase from the car. Vergilia wanted to take hers, but Jake pecked her cheek and took her suitcase in his second hand with a smirk on his face. He carried them in the house and set them aside as a woman walked up to him and Vergilia.
-You must be Jake – she said. - My name is Cindy.
Jake nodded, while Vergilia introduced herself. Jake allowed himself to sit down on the couch in the living room. The whole house was basically a bathroom, a small room and the living room. Vergilia sat down next to him, while Cindy got to preparing lunch for them all.
-How's been going? - Tony asked.
-Bad and good. - Jake shrugged. - Just how the life goes.
-Everything good at school? - was another question.
-Acceptable. - Jake's answers were short and he told Vergilia to give short answers only too. - Nothing interesting to talk about.
Tony noticed that Jake minded his words, so after a moment he stopped forcing a conversation. He turned on the TV and that filled the awkward silence.
Time skip
On the next day Jake and Vergilia met Cindy's two daughters. Apparently they lived with their father in the same town, so they could visit their mother anytime they wanted. They would be okay, but one thing was annoying. The fact that the older one constantly tried to flirt with Jake. Vergilia knew that she didn't have to worry, Jake was crazy about her, but the fact itself was angering her. So to get back on her Vergilia was occupying Jake's lap or had her arms wrapped around Jake possessively. Jake wouldn't dare to complain, he had his Vergie close all the time.
-Why are you co cuddly out of sudden? -he asked, already knowing the answer. - Usually it's me, who's glued to you.
-I just take what's mine. - she answered, smirking at her boyfriend.
Jake chuckled and nuzzled Vergilia's shoulder as they watched TV. There wasn't much to do. Jake had his textbooks for German in his luggage, so he could keep himself busy with that. Vergilia was also interested in learning with him, they could both help each other get better.
Also, Jake's father promised that he would meet up with his brother on the next day. Jake wouldn't believe until he saw that happen though. Tony's promises were empty way to often, especially in that matter, so Jake didn't take it seriously.
-Alle reden, keine Aktion. - Jake said looking up from his book, earning a chuckle from his girlfriend.
