Jake was on the practice at the gym with the rest of the Committee. He was annoyed with the ruckus the new ones were making, plus, they were slacking off when Zoe didn't look. She was interested in nutrition and wanted to be a personal trainer in the future, so Jake entrusted her with setting the workout programs for the members of the Committee. For him it worked perfectly, but he was actually sticking up to the plan. Juniors and seniors were also working out. The freshmen on the other hand, were the biggest slackers. In the end he had enough and called Hanji to himself loudly enough for everyone to hear. She came to him right away.
-Make them move their asses please, or I will kick them out of the Committee. - he said.
-No matter how many times I reprimand them, the same thing happens. - Zoe sighed in defeat, she didn't like when someone saw her fail something. She also wasn't someone to ask for help and Jake knew that.
-Hey, snowflakes! - he called out to them, interrupting their little chit chat and successfully getting their attention. - Better start your workout or you won't leave until you finish it.
-And who are you to tell me what to do?- asked one of them, not really paying attention who he was speaking to.
-Oh, no one. - Jake shrugged and chuckled. - Just the Captain of the Disciplinary Committee.
That's when he turned around with his eyes wide. Jake was slightly shorter than him and immediately recognized the guy. James Kobus, the newest member of the Committee.
-So Michael Jackson, get to work and stop distracting the others. Unless you want to see how good I am with coming up with the punishments. - Jake said, smirk on his face. - I don't hear you saying you understood.
-I understood. - James answered, not really pleased. Jake eyed him up and down, but he didn't say anything more. He nodded and got back to his routine.
After a bit he heard Kobus snicker with his buddies some more, slacking off again. This time he had enough, he was a man of his word after all.
-Kobus and his little adoration circle – he said, walking up to them. - expelled from the Disciplinary Committee. You also leave with the warnings in your papers for disturbing the training. Now get out.
One of them tried to ask Jake to change his mind, because his father wanted him to be the part of the Committee, but Jake was having none of that. He just told them to get out once more, before he gave him the second warning on one day. Five students left the gym, before Jake took a deep breath and smiled. He knew the atmosphere was heavy, others didn't want to be in the center of his anger.
-So, who wants to race me on the treadmill? - he asked.
-Me! - Damien was more than eager to have some competition against Jake.
After half an hour of running, Zoe checked their pace and Jake turned out to be slightly faster. Both of them were panting heavily.
-Jake wins. - she said.
-My sister trains you well. - Damien joked, making Jake grin.
-Shut up. - he answered as he dried the sweat from his forehead.
As soon as Zoe called the end of the training, they went back to the lockers to grab their stuff. Jake walked home whistling. That was just to calm himself down. He could still feel anger from the problems he had that day. He expected Kobus to go go for revenge, so he planned on watching out for himself. He was calm when it came to Vergilia, he had Damien or Martha near her all the time. Lucy could also pack a punch if needed.
In no time he arrived home. His mother was cooking. Jake dreaded of eating her food, but he had to. He didn't have anything prepared on his own.
-Hi. - he said and took his jacket off.
-How was school? - she asked.
-Same as always. - Jake answered and took a bowl of the soup.
-Really nothing happens there? - his mother asked, getting irritated.
-You went to school, you know it's boring. - Jake shrugged.
-I just don't believe you're out of any trouble. - she sighed.
-I'm above the law. - Jake answered.
He finished the dinner as quickly as possible and went to his room for a nap.
