It was the time to come back to school, after the holiday break. Jake collected the list of upcoming events his Committee would have to cover and now he, his team and Vergilia were laughing at their table in the canteen. They had a good time, when they were joined by the basketball team. Jake had his arm on the backrest of Vergilia's chair, which was quickly picked by Curtis.

-If I saw you like that last year, I wouldn't believe it. - he said.

-If I had my arm like that around Vergie last year, she would kill me to begin with. - Jake chuckled. - Wait a moment, wasn't that around that time last year when I threw myself in the fire?

-That's correct. - Sebastian nodded. -It's so good to see you didn't end up like Anakin Skywalker. - he said, making them laugh.

-I'm happy too. -Jake responded chuckling. - I wouldn't want to be shorter than my girlfriend..

-You could always go back to Victoria.- teased Lucy. - She would take you anyway.

-Hell no. - Jake shook his head and took a sip of his energy drink.

-I would take him too. - Vergilia answered, giving him a side glance. - He's useful around the house.

-Bedroom in particular. - Damien added.

-Damien seems to be interested in cleaning up the gym after the practice today. - Jake said, looking at him with a smirk.

-I'm fine without it. - Damien answered innocently.

-He's brilliant in making you shut up. - Vergilia said to her brother, praising her boyfriend and scratched behind his ear.

Now that Jake reminded himself about the beginnings of what he has now with Vergilia, he felt kind of nostalgic. Back then he would never think that something so good could happen to him and that he deserved it. He actually believed it now. He glanced at Vergilia lovingly. He would do it all over again, if he had to, Vergilia was his biggest treasure.

-I wish someone looked at me like this.- Damien sighed in a teasing manner.

-For now you look that way at pizza. -Lucy was the one to respond, earning an eyeroll from Damien.

-With my own place and all I'm a high value man. - he laughed.

-Stop it, you sound like Ernie. - Jake huffed. - I really don't understand how can someone be so dumb and blame the world that no one likes him.

-Jake looks so done. - laughed Jared. -Is he really that bad?

-Say nothing, last week he wanted to start a club gathering guys agreeing with him. - Jake shook his head. - Luckily, apart from him, there wasn't anyone else on the member list, so I could easily reject it. The guys in the Host Club didn't want to take him in either.

-Didn't he also apply to the Disciplinary Committee? - Zoe asked.

-Yep. - Jake nodded, then smirked. - But he's Sebastian's worry in the Student Council, so he can't join.

-The moment he steps out of the line, I will gladly hand him to you. - Sebastian said.

-You two sound like parents, after divorce, pushing their problematic kid between each other. - Zoe laughed out loud.

-Did you pay child support on time? -Damien joined in.

-I won't admit he's mine. - Jake chuckled.

-Me neither. - Sebastian waved it off, making others laugh.

It continued like that until it was the end of the lunch break, and they were forced to go to the class. Jake and Vergilia walked hand in hand along with their friends. They were taking their time, but no one cared. They knew Jake could abuse his power a bit for their sake, and he would from time to time.

Jake took a deep, content breath. In that moment Jake noticed that change in his life. No Victoria cheating on him and him on her, now it was Vergilia, who appreciated him. No Isabel rambling his ears off, but his team and a bunch of people he enjoyed being around. Halvor was right. It wasn't so bad to allow some people close. His silent scream for love was heard.
