We leave the cafe side by side, my shoulder brushing hers slightly with each step. All I can think about is how much my hand seems to be aching to intertwine my fingers with hers so I quickly shove my hands into my pockets. “So, Williamson. What’s the plan for today,” I smirk down at her softly, “seens as you’re my official tour guide of North London and everything?” I inquire with a light-hearted tone.

“Well,” she looks up at me with those blue eyes… God, those blue eyes, Leah Williamson, what are you doing to me? “I thought maybe we could go on a bit of a drive, I know places we won’t be found. I always go there when I’m stressed or need to clear my head. It’s nicer at night but we can always go back. It’s about an hour drive though, is that okay?” She asks with a small smile.

She’s nervous. Her hand is in her pocket but I can see a slight movement there, it looks like she’s fidgeting. She’s rolling back and forth on her heels ever so slightly as well. Overall, she masks her nervousness quite well through her facial expressions but I’ve always found you tell someone's true feelings through their body language anyway.

I answer after a quick moment with a smirk and tilt my head to the side slightly with my eyebrows raised slightly. “You tryna get me all to yourself, Williamson? And no, I don’t mind an hour drive.”

Her cheeks go furiously red at the first part of my answer but they reduce in colour as she relaxes, taking a deep breath. She sighs out but it turns into a slight chuckle, “good. I’m glad. It’ll be worth it I promise.”

“How far away is your house? Are we gonna walk or take a taxi? so we can take your car wherever you’re taking me”

“We can take a taxi if you want, my house is about a 45 min walk from here or a 10 min car ride. But, it’s up to you.”

“Nah, we may as well walk. Unless you want to take a taxi that is. I can call one but it’ll probably only get here by the time we could’ve walked to yours and-”

“No, Els. Calm down it’s fine, I agree we’d be better off walking,” she cuts me off abruptly with a soft smile, placing a reassuring had on my upper arm, squeezing it slightly, “fucking hell, you are literally pure muscle,” she mumbles slightly and I just about hear her but I decide it’s best to not acknowledge it, gathering that she didn’t intend for me to hear.

We arrive outside what I presume to be Leah’s house, I can't be sure considering the fact that the first time I saw it was in the middle of the night but given the fact that we’ve stopped  outside a front door. Well, her front door. I look around at the exterior of the house. It’s part of a row of houses, all a simple red brick with white doors and slate roofs.

She puts her hand in her pockets and then starts to pat her pockets and whispers “fuck sake.”

“What’s wrong, blue eyes?”

“I can’t find my keys”

“You didn’t have them when we left Beth’s last night, that’s why I had to take you back to my B&B”

“Shit yeah, right I forgot about that. My spare key should be around her somewhere” she mumbles softly and then picks up what appears to be a normal rock from near her front door.

She flips the rock over, “Ellie, do you have anything like a key on you?” She inquires softly.

I hum softly in response and grab my house keys from my pocket, handing them to her and mumbling softly, “there you go, love.”

A light blush fans over her cheeks and she whispers softly, “thank you.”

I smile softly down at her, acknowledging her previous words. She pushed my house key into a small dent in the rock and a little tray pops out where a singular key sits proudly.

I watch on in amusement as she grabs the key and looks to me with a wide smile as she boasts slightly, “see? Knew I still had it.”

I chuckle in response as she turns around and unlocks the front door, placing the fake rock to its original place.

“My car keys are inside, d’you wanna come in? You can leave your bag with your stuff in here.” She states softly with a smile, stepping side the house.

I smile back, “sure,” I step inside after her, closing the door behind me.

I watch as she slips her shoes off so I follow suite, placing my shoes next to hers on the shoe rack. I follow behind her as she walks through her hallway and into the kitchen. I take slightly longer, looking around and examining the cream walls adorned with photos of friends and family.

I walk into the kitchen a few moments after her and she turns to face me with a smile, leaning against the kitchen counter, “welcome to my humble abode,” she states with a slight smirk and humorous tone.

I laugh softly in response, “you’ve got a nice place, blue eyes, fair play.”

She smiles softly in response, “d’you want anything to drink?”

“Um- no, uh, no thank you. I’m all good.” I say with a small smile.

She just raises an eyebrow as if to say ‘really?’ and grabs two bottles of water from her fridge and chucks one at me quickly with an effortless flick of the wrist.

My reflexes kick in pretty quickly as I catch the bottle easily, taking the lid off and having a sip. “Thank you” I whisper softly.

She nods and leans against the counter once again, “if you want, you can leave your bag,” she nods towards the fairly large backpack that’s been over my shoulder since we left my B&B room this morning, “in the living room for when we get back.”

I nod in response, “I really do appreciate you letting me stay for the night, y’know?”

A soft smile adorns her features as she speaks softly, “I know. You can stay as long as you want, I don’t mind the company.”

I nod and place my hands in my pockets.

“Do you want me to show you where the living room is?” she asks with a soft smile.

“Please,” I say with a wide smile, my dimples popping out as we both laugh.

She makes a follow motion with her hand, “c’mon, dimples,” she moves front the counter, wrapping her fingers around my forearm and pulling me ever so slightly, “it’s right through here.” She states, guiding me through the hallway and through a door next to the front door.

She seems to let her touch linger for a few seconds before letting go.

“Thank you.” I say with a soft smile, looking down at her.

As I’m looking down at her I notice the lack of space between us. My breath hitches ever so slightly, my eyes looking into her eyes, then glancing at her lips, and back up to her eyes. Those damn eyes… I watch as her eyes glance down at my lips. I inch forward slightly, leaning down to close our height difference. We’re so close now that our breath is mingling a combination of spearmint and cool mint, just mere inches. She tilts her head up and leans further in, our lips touching ever so slightly. Just as I’m about to close the gap and connect our lips… A loud knock resonates through her home.
