Hinatid ako pauwi ni Ivan. When the car stopped in front of the mansion, I was about to open the car door myself to get out but he stopped me. Bigla siyang bumaba sa kabilang pintuan at hinintay ko siyang pagbuksan ako mula sa labas na ikinatawa ko naman nang mahina.
So this is what it feels like to be treated like a princess... it feels nice.
"Thank you," nangingiti kong pagpapasalamat nang makababa ako ng sasakyan.
"Anything for you," he said, closing the door shut behind me. He cleared his throat, slightly lowering his head, "I'm sorry about what happened."
Oh? The explosion earlier?
"N-no, it's fine," I quickly shook my head, "It was not your fault. It was out of your control."
"But I really wanted to make this a perfect night," he slightly pouted which made my heart skip a beat. Is he sulking? So cute!
Feeling my cheeks heating up, I reached for his hand beside him, "As long as I'm with you, everything's perfect."
Mas humaba yung nguso niya habang inaayos ang pagkakahawak sa kamay ko. I looked at him innocently with a small smile on my face when he turned his head away. That's when I noticed his ears turning red...
Is he blushing?
This time, I couldn't help but let out a chuckle, "Ayos lang kiligin sa harap ko, Ivan," pang-aasar ko sa kaniya.
"Asdfghjkl," he says gibberish words with pouted lips that I couldn't understand. Ganito pala siya kapag nahihiya.
"What was that?" I probed, slightly tilting my head to peek at him.
The warm lights coming from the mansion shined upon him, covering him in a soft and gentle veil of light when he faced me once again.
Then he said, "You're really bad for my heart."
I smiled sneakily, "In a good way?"
"In a good way."
"That's good."
Ibinaba ko ang tingin sa magkahawak naming mga kamay. We were enveloped in a comforting silence that made my insides feel warm... sweet... heavenly. Just from our hands touching, it made me realize that this world is a beautiful place that's worth to live in.
My lips formed into a gentle smile. I want this moment to last forever.
"Hey... Cath...?"
I raised my head to meet his gaze.
"Hmm?"
"After this..."
I quietly, unconsciously held my breath, "Yes?"
"I'll be busy," he informed, "I'll be leaving the Philippines soon because I have other matters to tend to back abroad. But..."
Hinarap niya ako nang maayos. Ang isa niya pang libreng kamay ay hinawakan ang akin. Now, we're holding both of each other's hands.
"I want to keep in touch. I really," he breathed heavily. Then in a slow and deep voice, as he lowered his head, he continued, "Really want to."
"We can text and call each other regularly," I blushed.
"But I want more than that."
I could see from the subtle movements of his chest that he was taking heavy breaths. His hands somewhat feels cold. As if he's nervous to say something.
That's when I realized...
Could it be?
My suspicions, sweet suspicions were then answered.
"Catherine Graciela Cordova," he called my name like it was the combination of the most beautiful words he has ever spoken.
"Will you be my girlfriend?"
My mouth slightly gaped open.
What?
Did I hear him right?
Mas humigpit ang hawak niya sa mga kamay ko, "I-I was supposed to propose earlier but we were disrupted by the explosion," he looked down, "I know this is not ideal pero ayaw kong maghiwalay tayo ngayong gabi na walang nangyayaring progress kasi gusto ko talaga--"
Hindi ko na siya pinatapos at kaagad na ibinalot ang mga braso ko sa kaniyang batok sabay niyakap siya nang mahigpit. Sobrang bilis ng tibok ng puso ko't ramdam ko rin ang ritmo ng sa kaniya na kapareho ng akin na nagbibigay kasiguraduhan na totoo ang namamagitan sa amin. Na totoo ang nangyayari ngayon.
"Yes, yes," natutuwa kong sagot, "I'll be your girlfriend."
He wrapped his arms around me tightly, burying his head on the crook of my neck.
"Thank you," he whispered.
To this man in my arms whom I have decided to turn my back against this world for...
To sacrifice all of me for my selfishness to be with you...
Even if it's just for a short while. Even if this happiness comes with a price. Even if you end up being with someone else other than me because of the damned predestined fate of this world...
