CHAPTER 34: ...

We stared at each other like that for a while, waiting for the other one to react first, to say something.

My eyes slightly squinted, "What do you want?"

Malawak siyang ngumisi, seeing how he won from our little unspoken competition of whoever reacts first, loses, "Aside from your suffering, and tormenting you, answers. I need answers."

I lowered my head from looking up at him. With my head facing upfront, my eyes remained in the corner, to his direction, "Bold of you to assume I'd simply give you what you want."

"Hoho?" tawa nito habang naglalakad patungo sa harapan ko, my gaze following his movements. He grabbed the chair from the other table in front then pulled it to sit right on the other side of my table--pero ang sandalan nito ay nasa harapan ng kaniyang tiyan kung saan niya ipinatong ang kaniyang mga braso pagkaupo.

Tahimik ko lang siyang pinagmasdan, ang aking mga braso ay magkakrus sa harap ng aking dibdib. His blonde hair shone even more brightly under the sunlight, and the greys of his playful eyes reminded me of a... smooth and spotless rock.

Objectively speaking, Luca is very handsome. That's a fact. Pero hindi ko alam kung bakit pero sa paningin ko, o siguro ni Catherine, ang pangit niya. Isa ata siya sa pinakapangit na nilalang na namataan ko sa mundong ito simula nang nagkamalay ako sa katawan ni Catherine.

Gwapo siya, pero pangit talaga. Parang mas nasira pa tuloy ang mood ko nang makita siya.

Now that I think about it, where did the feud between Catherine and Luca actually began? Hmm. I'm trying to remember...

"The old you was never smart like that," he pointed out, placing his right cheek on top of his arms above the backrest, "The old you would instead act very shamelessly and recklessly. I've always found that side of you entertaining. Ever since we saw each other again for the first time after vacation, you changed. To the point I kept thinking maybe you're a different person inside that body..."

Although my insides stiffened, I showed him no reaction.

Tila hindi na nawala ang ngisi sa mga labi niya, "But that's impossible, right? So I got curious... what could've happened that caused you to change like that?"

"The old you also never talked too much like this," the corner of my lips turned up, "I wonder what made you change like that too?"

"Hah," he scoffed, leaning closer but we were still too far apart. He stared into my eyes directly and I didn't dare back out.

"I guess people really do change."

He backed away which made me smirk. He noticed that and frowned a little but then continued, "So I did a little research..."

Hearing him say 'research' reminded me of Ivan doing his 'investigation' about Josie, which then added up to my already sour mood. Why am I surrounded with people who likes to 'investigate' or do some 'research' about each other!? But then again, it is good to have as much information as you can about someone, but still...

I let out a long and heavy sigh, "Were you always this unbearable, Siciliano?"

Hindi niya ako pinansin, "I just found out that..." his lips once again formed into a mischievous grin, "You have a boyfriend!" he revealed like it was some kind of a million-dollar information.

"Yeah?" I didn't know how to respond because I don't know what kind of point he is trying to make, "What about it?"

Also, it's not like I'm trying to hide that fact.

"That's why you changed!" he exclaimed that my body shuddered from nervousness because his voice echoed throughout the library and I'm afraid the librarian would scold us, "YOU HAVE A BOYFRIE--"

Kaagaran kong tinakpan ang bibig niya gamit ang aking mga kamay. Sinamaan ko siya ng tingin, "Lower your voice down," mariin kong sambit.

Gulat niya akong tinignan. Nang hindi siya umimik nang ilang segundo ay tinanggal ko na ang pagkaka-takip sa bibig niya pero parang hindi pa rin siya makapaniwala na nagawa ko yun sa kaniya.

"D-did you just...?" he pointed at his mouth.

My face scrunched up in disgust, "Stop acting like I stole your first kiss, you lunatic."

I guess he really is surprised I did that to him. Being the grandson of a Mafia Boss and heir to a multimillion conglomerate, everyone is rather careful around him and treats him like a fragile being or a descendant of a god kung kaya't tulad ko na walang pakundangan na tinapalan ang bibig niya'y nakagugulat talaga para sa kaniya.

Though it is unlikely since I know him as a character in a book, but if he ever throws a 'tantrum' just because of how I covered his mouth, I have some cards up on my sleeve that I can use against him.

"Lower your voice down. And yeah, I have a boyfriend," pagtataray ko sa kaniya, "I may have changed because of him. What about it?"

I don't know how he arrived to the conclusion that the reason Catherine's personality changed was due to me having a boyfriend, but either way, he just gave me a very convenient reason to use and make my life a lot more easier.

Bigla siyang umalis mula sa pagkakaupo sa aking harapan at tumayo sa tabi ng lamesa, malapit sa akin. He bent his body forward, his face moving closer to mine, blocking the sunlight shining through the windows.

Kumunot ang noo ko pero hindi ako nagpatinag. Hindi ako gumalaw. Sinalubong ko ang nagbabagang mga tingin niya kahit na malawak siyang nakangisi--rito ko napagtanto na ginalit ko siya, na hindi niya talaga nagustuhan ang ginawa ko sa kaniya.

So he is going to throw a tantrum.

Bumilis ang tibok ng puso ko hindi dahil sa kaba o takot.

Hindi ko rin napigilang ngumisi, masama ang mga tingin sa kaniya.

Kung isa lang akong normal na taong walang kahit na anong yaman o kapangyarihan, hindi ko siya haharapin o kakalabanin sa umpisa pa lang. Pero alam ko ang katayuan at kinalulugaran ko ngayon.

Alam kong hindi lang basta-basta nagsimula sa wala ang alitan sa pagitan ni Luca at ng totoong Catherine.

I stood up from sitting on the chair, ang upuan ay naglikha ng ingay nang sumayad ito sa sahig. Hinarap ko siya, mata sa mata.

"This boyfriend of yours..." his eyes glinted. His left fingers reached for my chin, "I wonder what he'd do if he knew all your evil and dirty secrets?"
