CHAPTER 48: YOU CHOOSE TO MAKE ME SUFFER?

I'm at the parking lot with the family driver. Text me if you're out.

I smiled after reading his message. I stood beside the top of the staircase outside the main building.

To: Ivan

Dito na po sa labas.

Napaharang ako ng mata gamit ang kanang kamay nang biglang tumirik ang sikat ng araw. Nang sumilip ako sa pagitan ng aking mga daliri'y nakita ko ang unti-unting pag-alis ng mga ulap sa pagkaka-harang sa tanyag nito.

Okay. I love you po.

Natawa na lang ako bago bumaba ng hagdan para sa tabi na lang ng kalsada sila hintayin.

My feelings have calmed down from my confrontation with Luca but the unsettlement remains. Though I don't know why I feel unsettled...

"Hi."

Nagulat ako nang may nagsalita sa tabi mismo ng tainga ko.

Paglingon ko'y napaatras ako nang mamataan ang nakabibighaning ganda ng isang diyos sa tabi ko, "A-Agen?"

"Yara," he smiled, bringing light to the place, "It's been a while."

I felt my cheeks heated, "You scared me."

"Pardon me," he apologized, "It was a sudden visit."

From the distance behind him, I saw our car driving towards us, "Is there something wrong? Did you find anything?"

"Nothing, really. I just decided to drop by and visit you," he followed my line of vision behind him, "I was too busy to investigate your self in the original world. I couldn't find Mordy either... or I could just sneak in his world without telling him. He'd definitely be mad though. Is that your boyfriend, by the way?"

I looked at him, "Yes, that's him."

"The car?" he joked.

"No!" tawa ko.

The black sedan stopped beside us. Ivan stepped out of the car wearing a business smile and air of formality, probably to seem well-disposed to the stranger in front of me.

"Catherine," he called, blue eyes landing on his creator unknowingly, "And you are...?"

But instead of Agen answering, Ivan froze in place. My brows furrowed when not just him, but all the people around us stopped in time.

"What?" bigla akong kinabahan. Bumilis ang pagtibok ng puso ko habang nilalapitan ang katawan ni Ivan na nanatili na lang na nakahinto sa ere. In a panic state, I inquired the divine observer, "What happened? Did you...?"

"I don't like talking to my characters," sabi niya, ang mga tingin ay sobrang seryoso kay Ivan, "Most especially to him."

What? I thought gods and goddesses love their creations? This piqued my curiosity, and confusion.

"May I ask why?"

He clicked his tongue, "They all simply make me uncomfortable. Although there is one character that makes me feel nice, like you do."
