I stared up at the demon lords castle, gulping nervously. My family was stuck and in danger, the cliff we were living in is caving over. Me and my brother were the only ones who could squeeze through. I left him to gather food to deliver to our family. I had heard rumors of the demon Lord. There are several in this land of many creatures. The closest one was a few days walk.

My brother called me crazy and told me it wasn't the way to protect the family. Inviting dangerous creatures to our treacherous safe haven. My parents told me that no-one will help, humans are low on the chain of power and there's no way anyone would help us. But I know going to the top can help! I knocked on the massive doors and hummed, the area rather intimidating. The spikes on the fences, the splattered blood and skulls lining the entrance like a warning.

The torches flickered and shivered in the wind, making the flames seem to dance. A tall bulking figure exited, eyeing me boredly.

"A human? Get going" he scoffed, shutting the door, I stammered and frowned watching the torchlight dance on the heavy wooden door. I knocked again, the door opening.

"Um, hello sir.... Are you the demon Lord?" I asked shyly. He glared down at me, making me feel smaller.

"No I'm not, do not flatter yourself child. You better leave before you dirty the entrance with your corpse" he scoffed. I frowned and flinched as the door slammed. I stood around and ran off to find water and some food before returning. Several days of knocking and being denied was wearing down on my enthusiasm.

"Look... Moon, please go away, it's sad now" sighed the butler, his name is Finbarr. We introduced ourselves a few days ago.

"Please Finbarr! My family is going to die!" I whined, I hope I'm not to late, the cliff would soon collapse fully. We can't even dig the dirt away as it's flench dirt, meaning it's way heavier then normal dirt.

"Look, the demon Lord cannot help you. He has important business that's not low and Insignificant humans.... I apologize, your family will need to save themselves from the avalanche" he grumbled.

"Fine... I'll go back and make sure they're ok. Wish the Lord a lovely day for me" I mumbled. I'd seen him a few times, Finbarr had explained why I was here, but the demon Lord Nikolai simply apologized and walked away. Apparently the Lord was the one who told Finbarr to leave food out for me.

He agreed to and I slouched, waving at the Lord at his window as he waved back, a soft look on his face. I began my walk back home. That was a failure. I let my whole family down by wasting my time meeting Finbarr and Nikolai, even if they are nice to a lowly human like me.

I finally returned home and looked around, my brother gone. He must be inside with mother and father. I moved to the hole and nearly squeezed through. Screaming as something dove out.

A blood fox pack! I scurried up the side of the cliff and stared down at the growling pack, blood dripping from their fangs. My brother must have died protecting mum and dad. I turned and ran, the large, white foxes after me.

I collapsed onto my knees as I tripped and cried a little. Seeing the creatures circling me, their iconic blood covered faces snarling at me. Who am I kidding, I can't outrun them. I watched them and anger filled my heart.

"You killed them!! You disgusting beasts!! You killed my family!!" I yelled, they simply snarled and stalked closer. "You stole my family! I hate you all! I hate you!" I screamed, picking up a stick and swinging it around wildly.

They jumped to avoid it before moving it and snapping. I left my family to die without me. This is all my fault, I'll get my revenge or die trying! Before I could die though the world went dizzy. I collapsed, as did the foxes. A figure walked over to me and cradled my head.
