I stared at the demon, he had his arms crossed. Humanoid and strong looking, poisonous looking purple-black-hair. His purple eyes glaring into my own. I held out my hand slightly, eyeing the tray he had pulled out, it smelt delicious!
"Go" he growled. I tilted my head to him and gave him a smile. "Humans don't belong inside," he continued. I lowered my hand, I don't think he'll be willing to share. "How did you even get inside?!" He snapped. I jumped and took a step back, clasping my hands nervously.
"Please sir? Can I have some?" I asked. He groaned, glaring at me in annoyance. Oof bad idea to come in here! I took a few steps back, I was always told to ask if I needed anything, and these demons and angels have so much nice stuff!
His sharp tipped tail slashing the air. I slowly lowered my head. I squealed as he grabbed my arm, dangling me in the air. He tossed me down and I whimpered, cowering and curling up into the corner, beginning to break down into tears as he stood over me.
"I'm sorry sir, please don't hurt me" I sobbed. He groaned and looked around. I rubbed my eyes as I sobbed.
"You can't break into houses! Pests belong outside" he snapped. I sniffled and looked at the open front door.
"I didn't break anything, the door was open" I whimpered.
"You can't just walk inside! Next time someone will kill you or call pest control!" He snapped, I cowered a little.
"What does pest control do?" I asked, he stared at me for a moment, taking a deep breath and beginning to pace back and forth.
"Don't make me explain that" he muttered.
"But I want to know where to find mummy, and daddy, and uncle," I explained, and he stared at me for another moment. "Pest control took them away," I explained.
"You won't find them. Don't go looking and don't go entering people's houses. Not everyone is so forgiving of pests" he muttered, I slowly nodded.
"Ok... I won't mister" I stammered. His tail grabbed my wrist, pulling me onto my feet. He handed me something.
"Blow your nose and clean up your face" he muttered, I did so, a lot of dirt sticking to it. He threw it into a bin. I wiped my eyes a little more and he walked me to the front door, shoving something warm into my hand. "Get going" he ordered, shutting the door behind me.
"Bye mister" I called, staring at my hand, in it was a warm food. I squeaked happily and took a bite, it tasted so yummy! People were on the streets now, walking around, I was always told not to walk amongst them. So I moved into the garden and sat down, enjoying my food. People always seemed disgusted and unhappy when they noticed me, some kids threw a rock. Mumma always said that they are people and we are pests, but food is hard to get in the small colonies in the wild. Apparently pest control sometimes goes there as well. I yawned and rested my back against a tree.
I woke up a while later, jumping onto my feet. I hummed and looked around, it seemed to be sundown, everyone inside. I skipped onto the sidewalk, looking around at all the houses, since I'm not allowed to walk inside, I will just knock!
I found a water tap and turned it, drinking thirstily. I then moved to the playground, jumping around on things to burn off my energy. I'd only be allowed on these at night.
I went to a little warm nook by a wall and a tree, curling up. By morning, nobody was out, so I happily moved to a house, knocking on a door. A big man opened up, a fiery demon with fire for hair. He glanced at me and slammed the door. Oh I must have taken too long to ask! So I knocked again, and it opened aggressively. He glared at me.
"May I please have some food?" I asked.
"I will not have pests at my door begging for food! Attract more!" He snapped, I squealed and ran as fire came towards me. Making my hair smell and hurting my skin. I fled to the house of the first guy, knocking as I cried. The guy slowly opened the door and sighed.
"Come on, let's get the burns looked after" he said after a few seconds, his tail holding my hand as he led me towards a big room. He pushed me into a little glass room inside the room! So cool.
Water began pouring down over me, it was cold, making me gasp. He rubbed some stuff through my burnt hair and over my hot skin, it helped soothe the burning sensation. The water brown and black at my feet. My skin looks so much paler, whoa! Magic!
He pulled me out and dried me, before leading me to the door. I stood there waiting as he left me. He came back and stuffed an apple into my hand, I eyed it in amazement. He nudged me out of the door.
"Be more careful, people will call pest control about you" he told me, closing it behind me. I happily sat in the garden again, munching away. People for some reason seemed a lot more confused when they looked at me.
My routine was the same, sleep, play, sleep, and drink. I moved to a different door, knocking hopefully. An angel woman stepped out, seeming startled to see me.
"Hello," I greeted. She reached for something and held it out, I think it's a broom...
"Get out of here you disgusting pest!" She squealed, the broom hurting as it hit me. I ran quickly and knocked on the guy's door again, my nose bleeding. The woman hysterically talked into a phone. The guy opened the door and knelt in front of me, running his fingers through my hair.
"Poor little muffin." He cooed as I cried, stroking my head. I could hear noises behind me. People talking, he clicked his fingers and I looked at him, purpley smoke billowing from my neck for a short second, he pulled me closer. "She is mine" he growled, lifting me into his arms, his tail curling around me.
He slammed the door and turned his attention back to me, sitting me on a bench. He left me alone, I looked around as I waited, people on the street talking, the fire demon and angel woman talking to people in pest control outfits. I curiously looked at a mirror, I looked weird and strange. My skin smooth and tan, my hair soft and brown, it is so strange to see, but a purple collar was on my neck, a little heart and words inscribed into it. He came back and cleaned my face of blood and kissed my forehead.
"I'll look after my muffin, you silly girl" he murmured.
