"Mother? When will the monsters go away?" I asked, she brushed down my hair with her fingers and shushed me gently. I shouldn't have asked that. It's my fault they found mum and now I'm alone. Dad blamed me and ignores me now.
I sighed and dug through our food supplies. Nothing. Dad is probably hoarding it along with his alcohol. I examined the outside, putting on some protective gear and sneaking outside. I needed to find some food, no point asking dad, he'd tell me to fuck off.
I walked slowly down the dark pathway and looked around nervously. I just need to sneak into an abandoned house and run for it. I snuck around a corner and froze up, something else had just rounded another corner. It's eyes met mine quickly, I must have made a sound.
I quickly rounded the corner, breathing heavily as my bare feet slapped the scratchy concrete. It was quicker. I screamed loudly as it tackled me down. It hissed and I fought hard. It's long and thick tail lashed visibly behind it, it's short antlers or horns obvious in the full street lights.
As I punched and kicked, it hissed and bit heavily into the crook of my neck. I screamed and pushed and pushed. Growing weaker from exerting myself. I shuddered and fell limp, side eyeing it as it let me go and sat up, straddling my smaller body between its legs.
I gulped and looked around with my eyes, tears trickling down. It hissed again, cat like ears flattening on it's head. I tried to drag my body out from under it, I screamed loudly as it's teeth flashed near my face. I collapsed and breathed heavily. It had human like hands, though the back of the hands had hair like spikes. It seemed humanoid, but alot more menacing.
I gulped and whimpered, waiting for it to end my life. It rose onto its toes, it's hands planted on the ground. In a crawl like position over me. I breathed heavily and examined its wide human like eyes. It quickly looked around before lifting me up, leaving me hanging from its arm painfully. It ran down the streets as I cried, to weak to struggle. It moved quickly, powerful legs powering it along.
It entered a building and dropped me on some rags, examining me with sharp eyes and suddenly moving to the bleeding crook of my neck. I yelped and shook, it licked and lapped up the blood until it stopped bleeding. the bite must have been shallower and less messy then I thought to stop bleeding so quickly.
I was breathing hard and watched it fearfully as it moved away. It's going to eat me soon, I know it. It sat up and stared out a window. I struggled to stay awake, my shaky body for some reason defying me and falling to exhaustion.
I woke up alone in a dusty hut, rubbing my dry eyes, my body for some reason too weak to move. I forced myself through my weakness and pushed my struggling body into a sitting position, crying out in pain as the crook of my neck stung in pain. I cried out in horror as a monster walked in, it hissed and I shrunk away. Sharp teeth much more obvious in the light.
It walked upright as it suddenly hoisted me onto its arm and carried me outside. I looked around fearfully. We were vanishing deep into some trees and suddenly came upon a creek. It dropped me into the sand. I gasped and tried to scramble away. It dropped onto four legs and drank eagerly. I gulped and leant towards the water, grabbing a quick drink before trying to run.
I rose onto my wobbly legs and booked it. I could hear an angry rumbling behind me and suddenly stopped, more of the creatures were around now. I screamed as I was tackled down and struggled desperately. The other creatures were making sounds reminiscent of speech. The one on me hissed before responding to them.
I pushed and struggled, desperate to get away. It didn't care for my struggling, only threatening to bite once my attempts became more violent. I froze up and took a shaky and deep breath. I gasped as my eyes met actual human ones. Creatures were walking by with humans, who were following, whether by choice or having ropes around their arms or necks. They looked at me but ignored me, I stared in horror and barely realized I was being picked up once more, carried back to the creek as everyone drank and washed their faces.
