Chapter 42

NICOLE'S P.O.V
After trying to eat shark meat, but failing, the sun started setting.

Freddie and I laid on the roof of a broken car. The past possession of some human.

"Are you gonna be able to sleep?" Freddie asked, his British voice filling the silence of the night in a whisper.

"I don't know. There's too much on my mind." I sighed.

"Let it out."

"Chandler may be dead." I said quickly. It had been digging through my chest the whole time.

"Or he may be alive. We don't know."

Tears started to fill my eyes. I didn't know what to think. I finally just broke down into sobs.

"Nicole...it's okay." Freddie moved close to me and let me rest my head on his chest.

"Thanks for...being here..." I sniffled into his shirt.

"I'll always be here." He smiled.

I looked up at him with teary eyes but a grin. His blue eyes glistened off the disappearing sun, giving his skin a nice glow.

Our faces got close and soon enough, our lips gently reached each others. He cupped my face with his hands as the kiss progressed. Our lips moved in a perfect harmony, mine being chapped from the ocean, but his still as soft as a blanket.

"How do you do it?" He said in between kisses.

"What?"

"Attract every boy you meet. You're so beautiful..."

"I don't know..."

I wrapped my arms behind his neck and pulled him closer. His body was against mine, it hurt slightly from me being injured in the tsunami, but I didn't care. I was lonely. Desperate. Wait...

"I can't..." I pulled away,"I can't do this..."

"Why not?"

"I'm with Chandler..."

"A dead man."

"What? You just told me he might be alive...?"

"Like I was gonna say I'm positive he's dead on the spot."

Then, the car shifted backwards, pulling towards the ocean. Everything was pulling back.

The water was muddy, but still. In the distance a figure formed.

"You better be bloody kidding me." His voice said harshly but quiet.

My breath hitched as I let out three words,"A second wave..."
