Troubles by the Score (C15)

Office of Wei Yenwu, third person

"Kaiser I've got triad members up to my snout here. Please tell me you have had better luck than me tracking them?"

Wei was obviously not having a great time. The LGD were swarmed with reports of triads and missing person reports and drug related incidents... he was losing faith.

"I've got some idea. All of the connections I've managed to snag and snip all lead to one cover business, "Builders League United" and a second technically a rival company, "Reliable Excavation Demolition" see both of them are born not from a City. That's the bad part they don't trace roots to any one place, hell I've managed to see Aegir of all people hired under them. But their main subject? Fucking Siracusa."

A sigh escaped the man beside him, "Why... of all the damn... So what's the plan?"

Tapping away at his PDA, Kaiser showed him a detailed list, "Ok so I know some thing, and before you nip at me again trust me I'm clean otherwise, my connections to my old Mentor has proven useful. Now she really wasn't happy with me ghosting for a decade but-"

He slid his PDA across the table showing multiple figures shrouded.

"These are what we think the-" he was cut off as an officer followed by Chen barged into the room with her nearly screaming.

"Wei! We have a major riot in city central!"

His faces paled "What?? This far into the city?!" He turned to Kaiser "I'm sorry to ask but we need your help!"

The man grinned widely "I need a weapon."

Outside, City Streets

"One... two... maybe 3 dozen more people all ragged and hollow looking... the fuck happened to them?" One of the guards asked as another commented "Dude I don't fucking know.. to be honest I'm more scared of the big dude with us!"

Said 'Big Dude' turned around "And this Dude can hear you. Now shut it, we have to stop them."

'Stop them' that wasn't a true plan and he knew it... he knew all too well what desperate men can do, they had weapons, bombs, anything they could use to do serious damage... and he knew they had no qualms of killing.

Stomp

They marched. Every lung guard tensed at the sound, the synchronized sound drove them mad.

The pace quickened. Those hollow people moved faster than what their bodies could allow! Thinking quickly Kaiser made a wall of fire.

"Guard! Whatever you do, do not let them pass! We give the superintendent time to evacuate the civilians! This is what you trained for!"

"SIR YES SIR!"

The riot shields took point, as the mob of people walked through the fire as if it was nothing... as if... they were nothing...

His fire died down, then he saw it... saw the blinking red light on their vests... as he focused on what they were wearing it clicked-

"DEFENDERS BLOCK THEM! THEY HAVE BOMB VES-"

BOOOOOM

His worst fear coming to life, these were nearly puppets on strings sent to destroy as much as they could... no matter what he did it was a lose-lose situation.

Either he retreats and lets them demolish buildings and suffer civilian casualties or he defends and wastes the lives of the men under his control.

This was Ursus all over again... this was his past coming back to bite him.

He managed to take a few out with well timed fireballs but it wasn't enough as he couldn't risk his men getting hit in the crossfire. Thankfully the trade deal between Rhodes Island and Lungmen allowed them to have better quality armor and weapons which subsequently saved their lives.

He got a startle when the communications officer got to him.

"Sir! Everyone in this district is out but district 4-6 are under attack!"

He acted quickly "Get to them! I'll hold these bastards off you till you get there." The guard stopped and argued "Sir I refuse to leave you-"

Slap!

He slapped the guardsman "Listen to me! Save those people! When I survive this I'll fucking buy you a beer but get to those civilians! Trust me on this!"

The guardsman nodded and rallied everyone under his command, as they left he looked back to their former commander...

"Hit em hard boss!"
