"I see how it is," I say smirking and making her turn around to look at me

"I see how it is," I say smirking and making her turn around to look at me. "You sure you wanna play dirty with me? Because once in, there's no way back, Gianna." I look directly into her eyes, warning her but at the same time daring her.

A dare she instantly responds to, but not in the way I expected because suddenly she is taking a step in my direction and reaching for my tie, pulling me closer to her with such force that we end up just a few inches away from each other. In shock I simply stand there, staring into her eyes waiting for her next move.

"This is dirty for you? I haven't even started, Pretty boy." She smiles the nickname rolling off her tongue as she slowly lets go of my tie. I would be lying if I said she is the first person to call me that but I wouldn't be if I said she is the first I don't mind calling me that.

"Pretty boy, huh?" I can't fight but smile once again.

"Fitting, right?" That's all she says, not even bothering to look back.

Right.

"Let's get you to that shopping center," I say griping her overly heavy bag tighter and following right behind.

And if she wants to play with no rules then we are playing with no rules.

___

We didn't say a word to one another for the whole drive to the shopping center but it wasn't necessary, the furtive looks we exchanged every few minutes said more than a thousand words. I could only imagine the different ideas that were going through her head about how she planned on making this simple run to the store a nightmare for me. And I couldn't stop thinking about how her attitude had taken a full 360 since Monday. She was still the same bratty Gianna, I bet that would never change but now, she was playing with a whole new strategy, she wasn't hiding or running anymore, she was going straight into it. Like she promised the day we met.

Removing the key from the contact I look back at her to find she is already looking at me as if she already knew something was coming. And she is right because something is coming.

"Before we get out of this car and get inside the mall, you know a lot of people will probably recognize you inside there and I know you are not going to make this easy on me but before any game, your safety comes first so go against me all you want but don't do anything stupid." It may not look like it to her but I take my job seriously and keeping her safe matters to me.

"Be careful, Russo, or I'm going to think you actually care about me." Her words come almost as a whisper, her eyes looking directly at mine, so green it's almost as if she were able to see right through me.
