"And you haven't talked to him since then?" Jesse asks looking in my direction from the armchair he is currently sitting on while lighting up his cigarette.

It's a nice night outside, perfect weather to go out but if I leave this building I will have to take Russo with me and that is the last thing I want right now so instead we decided to chill in the balcony. Well... at least I did, Jesse had no other choice but to agree.

"No, why would I?" I reach for his cigarettes and take one out. It's been ages since I have last smoked — tobacco at least — but right now feels like the perfect moment to start doing it again.

"Maybe he has an explanation, he doesn't strike me as the type to be a controlling asshole." He looks at me a little confused, watching the cigarette between my fingers but whatever he is thinking he keeps it to himself, and when I extend my hand asking for the lighter he doesn't hesitate to pass it my way.

I have been evading Mister Bodyguard for days now since I discovered — by total surprise — that he moved right next door. And so far I haven't seen him once. Luckily I didn't have any more jobs this last week so I could hide myself from the real world, and him, without issue but I'm kind of tired of staying home.

"If he did he should have told me before magically appearing next door without a warning."

I'm sure he has an explanation which is probably why he has tried to reach me a hundred times but I muted his number and I haven't entered the chat once. I know it's probably not the most mature behaviour but I have had enough of people trying to control my life. And to think that for a second I thought that maybe we could actually make it work, that we wouldn't need to keep hating each other forever.

"You said he told you he didn't have any other option, maybe it was part of the deal he did with your mother and he couldn't back down." Jesse keeps trying to reason with me and it's only because deep down I know he is right that I snap.

"Why are you defending him?" I light my cigarette and take a big puff hoping I won't break into a coughing attack.

"Because I think he is a good guy, Gianna, a good guy who is just trying to do his job the best way he can even taking how difficult you are making it for him. Hell, he even tried to bring you coffee this morning as an apology."

"Hot chocolate." I correct him.

Nine in the morning, I was peacefully sleeping in my warm comfortable bed until someone decided to knock on my door at nine in the morning. That someone being Russo, I don't even have to check because he has been doing this every fucking morning since we last saw each other.

"Leave me alone!" I scream from the kitchen area, taking a water bottle from the fridge.

"Please, just let me explain, give me one minute." He tries the same way he has been doing it for the last few days.
