A week later Judith arrived back to Anatol.
This seemed to greatly calm Gabel's anxieties. Though she had promised to take it easy, it was apparent that her version of easy and his did not match.
But now with Judith's arrival, he seemed more relaxed leaving each day.
Once she had entered her final month of pregnancy, Elara had become almost bed ridden.
She would try her best to do as much as she could but because of how the baby was laying in her belly terrible back pain would strike her, making just the simplest movements painful.
Even with this she was too anxious to just lie around all day.
Maximillian also had Anna start checking up on her more frequently.
"You could deliver any day now Elara. Are there any questions you have for me?"
Elara leaned her head back against the headboard of the bed.
"I am worried about how big this baby is. I was not this huge with Cassian. Also...I still have constant shooting pain down my legs. I can hardly stand it."
Anna ran her hand over Elara's belly.
"The baby seems to be on the larger side but you will be fine. As for the shooting pain, keep having your husband rub your back when he can. Also hot water on a cloth may help relieve some of it. This little one is just laying in an odd position."
Maximillian who was sat nearby, cut in, "There is an herb that I have used to help me with a similar pain you are describing Elara. I shall go and get it for you today."
Elara groaned and nodded her head slowly.
"Perhaps I shall join you...if you do not mind. I need to do something."
Maximillian smiled, "Yes of course, I will have them bring the c-carriage around."
Anna helped prop Elara up and lowered her dress.
"Thank you Anna."
"Alright my dear, I will plan on coming to check on you in a weeks time unless this little one decides to come sooner."
With that the midwife nodded and exited the room.
Judith came in with Cassian clumsily walking behind her.
"You okay?"
"Yes... I am going to the Castle with lady Calypse to get an herb that will hopefully help my fucking back."
Judith eyed her, "Elara Cassian is right behind me."
Elara covered her mouth, "Forgive me ...I have never sworn this much before in my life."
She pushed herself up further, "Cassian, Come here my love."
Cassian's with Judith's help crawled up on to the bed.
She noticed he was holding a toy she hadn't seen before.
"Is this a new toy?"
Cassian held it up closely to her face, "Yes! Papa."
Elara smiled, Gabel had been staying up at night with her when she couldn't sleep. Often he would sit by the fire and tell her stories while he carved into pieces of wood. He had made Cassian several new toys and even made a couple for the new baby.
A minute later Maximillian returned.
"The carriage is ready."
Judith helped Elara rise from the bed and grabbed her shoes that were over by the fire.
