This was my previous starter chapter to Arrow in time ( sequel to this fic ), but I felt it should have been posted in this story.

So enjoy this bonus chapter of the birth of the third Lachzion child. 🙂

"Come on!"
Gabel beckoned his steed as fast as he could towards home. The distance between Calypse Castle and his village home was around a fifteen minute ride, but he was determined to make it there in ten.

While in the midst of training he had received word that Elara had gone into labor.

She had complained about her lower back hurting early that morning but since the child wasn't due for another month yet, Elara felt fairly certain it was just pain from a pinched nerve.

Gabel raced through Anatol's busy market, shouting for villagers to make way.

As soon as his home came into sight, he leaped off his stead and rushed inside. Not even bothering to take his horse to the stable.

Emma, the Lachzion house maid, was sitting on the kitchen floor with Cassian and Nura.

The minute the door closed behind him, his children's heads popped up towards him.

"Papa! Papa! Come play with me!" Cassian called out while running over and wrapping his arms around Gabel's legs.

Nura also stood up and started to clap her small hands together.
"Papa..."

Gabel crouched down and hugged Cassian.

"Not now son, papa has to go be with mother okay? You must play with sister and miss Emma."

"But I want to play with you."

"I know son, we will play later. I promise."

Behind Cassian, Nura started to clumsily walk over.

"Hi Papa!"

Gabel picked her up in his arms.

"Hello my beautiful one."
He planted a kiss on her head then passed her back over to Emma.

"If things get too loud take the children outside. I don't want them to hear anything ...that would be upsetting to them."

Emma nodded, "Of course Sir Gabel."

Gabel patted Cassian on the head, "Alright good. I love you bo..."

Suddenly a pained cry pierced through the home.

Gabel ran from the kitchen to the bedchamber.

Inside he saw Elara leaning her body on one of their wood bed post.

Both midwives Anna and Joan were standing nearby.

"Why is she standing up?" Gabel asked while rushing over to her side.

"I'm here my love, let me lay you down."

"No!" Elara screamed out while tightening her grip on the bed post.

Anna stepped forward and ran her hand down Elara's back.
"She claims to be more comfortable this way. If she wishes, she can deliver the baby this way."

Gabel furrowed his brow.

How could she possibly be more comfortable laboring while standing up?

"Could we not just try and lay her down? I think once she is she will feel more comfortable."

Gabel brushed a strand of sweat soaked hair from her forehead.

Elara leaned further against the post and screamed, "Don't touch me! Do not move me!"
