Elara's contractions began to intensify. So much so that she stopped responding to whatever Gabel said to her. All of her focus seemed to be going to her breathing.

When Anna returned she had a large bag with her as well as what looked like another midwife.

Gabel arched an eyebrow at the two woman as they started to set things out on a small side table.

"What is going on?" He asked while continuing to run his hand over Elara's head.

Anna glanced up at him and motioned with her hand for him to come over.

Gabel kissed Elara's head then rose from the bed, walking over to the two woman. On a small table he saw lots of small towels as well as several small fine knives and needles.

"What the hell is this for? You won't be using that on her will you?"

Anna shook her head and put her finger up to her lips.

She then stepped very close to him, speaking in a hushed tone.
"I do not wish to frighten Elara. I believe the baby is laying in the wrong direction."

Gabel shook his head slightly.
"Okay...What does that mean?"

"It means the baby is not head down. I have only delivered a handful of babies the way your baby is laying."

Gabel ran his hands over his face and let out a pained sigh.

"But both my wife and child will be okay, right?"

Anna half smiled and grabbed his arm.
"It may be alright, but I will speak plainly.
It will be a much more difficult birth and in some cases there is a decision that will need to be made."

Gabel crossed his arms over his chest, "What kind of decision?"

The second midwife that had returned with Anna gently approached him.

"Sir knight, my name is Joan. I have more experience with babies born bottom up. Often times there are complications. For both mother and child. If you have access to a mage I would make sure they are here."

Gabel rubbed his head with his hand.
"Okay...okay...so Elara or the baby may need immediate healing?"

Joan nodded, "Yes. We often deliver babies of families who do not have access to a mage. In those cases the husband would have to make a decision."

Gabel glanced over at Elara who still had her eyes closed.

"Well I will not be making any decision like that. There will be a mage here."

Anna nodded and stepped forward.
"I have already told Lady Calypse of the situation...she went to go speak with someone. She stated that she would return shortly."

Joan then cut in, "There is something I am going to try first to possibly help the baby flip."

Elara cried out from the bed causing all three of their heads to turn towards her.

"Let us check her again now. Bring her to the end of the bed."
Anna hastily spoke while walking up to the bed.

Gabel rushed to Elara's side and gently caressed her arms.

"Elara my love, I'm going to move you."

He gently helped her sit upright before picking her up in his arm.

Elara cried into his neck as he carried her to the end of the bed.

After setting her down he placed himself slightly behind her allowing her to lean her upper body against him.
