Katherine's POV

I woke up with a pounding headache. I groaned as I lifted my head to look around the dark, blurry room.

"You're awake." I heard a deep, echoing voice say.

"Where am I?" I groaned.

"You're in one of my family's dungeons." The voice was clearer now.

"Where's Gale?" I asked.

"He's just over there. He didn't want to leave your side."

"He'll have to leave for this." I muttered as I tried to stand up from my chair, but there were Cuffs on both my wrists and my ankles to hold me back.

"You stuck?" Sebastian asked mockingly.

"What did I do to you?" I asked. "For you to do this to me?"

"You're a demon. I don't need a reason to do this." He replied. "It's what I'm supposed to do. It's in my blood."

"Can we just get this over with?" I groaned in annoyance. "I'd really like to be out of here before the party next weekend." He looked at me like I was crazy. "It's my first college party. I'd prefer not to miss it."

I heard Gale snicker quietly.

"We won't have to do this if you agree to feed on only animals from now on." He said. He already knew that I wouldn't be able to promise that.

I glared at him. "You know I can't do that."

He shrugged. "Well, we'll have to skip stage one because holy water doesn't affect you..." He mentally checked it off. "So, stage two."

"Gale, you should leave." It was then that I noticed that Zack was also here.

Gale glared at him before standing up. "Do I have a choice?" He growled. Zack shook his head. Gale gave me one last glance of guilt before he turned around and followed Zack up a stone staircase.

Sebastian waited for them to leave before he turned around to look back at me. "Now..."

"What's stage two?" I asked.

"I burn you with sage and wrap you with concentrated sage soaked chains." He replied as he walked to a metal bench with items that I couldn't quite see from where I was sitting.

I looked down and realized that I was now wearing a light grey tank top and shorts. I snapped my head up. "Who changed my clothes?"

"Gale did. Don't worry, he was quick to change you, he didn't want you to feel uncomfortable." He replied as he picked up a pile of chains. They were still slightly dripping with concentrated sage. "I thought it was ridiculous since you were unconscious, but he wouldn't listen to me."

I could smell the sage from where I was sitting. "How many demons have you tortured down here?" I asked.

"This year? You're my second. Last year... Well, I lost count." He replied as he began wrapping the chains around my torso.

I screamed in pain as the concentrated sage soaked my skin. I squeezed my eyelids shut. I screamed so loud that my throat began to feel raw. "Stop! Pleas-" I screamed. I felt tears run down my cheeks. "Get them off!"

"You're tears are made of blood..." Sebastian spoke over my screams and cries of agony. "I've never seen that before..."

My whole body clenched as the concentrated sage entered my blood stream. I could barely hear the screams and sounds of yelling from upstairs. It was Gale yelling at Zack to put a stop to this.
