Gale's POV
"Gale Sawyer." Bonnie sighs. "Red block again this year?"
Before I give Bonnie my attention, I watch as the girl steps into the elevator. She gives me one last glare before pushing a button on the inside wall of the elevator. The doors close before I hear the sound of Bonnie clearing her throat.
I turn my head to give her my attention. She looks like she's tired of me already. "What room are you in, Gale?"
"310." I reply with a small smile that probably gives her flashbacks from last year when we had first met. She's basically like my second mother. Scolds me when I need to be scolded. Gives me advice if I'm desperate enough to ask for it. She's like that to every student here. It makes her everybody's favourite.
"Alright, wait here please, no snooping, please." She mutters.
In her defence, I did snoop last year. But what can I say? I am a very curious person.
It's my second year here, and I'm sure that anyone who was here last year knew my name. I was quite the party animal at house parties that were thrown mostly every night.
"Here are your keys." Bonnie says as she hands me my keys. "Level three. You know the drill..."
"Why, thank you Bon!" I smile as I take the keys from her hand, adjust my grip on my box and the bag full of clothes on my shoulder, and turn to walk in the direction of the elevator.
"That's Ms. Cardel to you!" She calls after me as I press the elevator call button.
"If you say so Bon!" I tease when the elevator door opens, and I step in.
"Why do I even bother...?" I hear her whisper to herself.
I smile at her words as I press the button for level three and the doors close.
**********
The doors to the third floor open, I step out and walk down the long hallway towards my assigned room. Something tells me to slow down when I'm approaching an opened door. Room 308. I tilt my head when I see the girl from earlier talking to a girl with white hair.
Luna Grey... Suddenly, another girl comes into view. I sigh when I see who it is. Elanor mother fucking Sutton.
They all have smiles on their faces which makes me smile before I catch myself. I shake my head to snap out of it.
"Well, Well..." I hear Elanor's confrontable voice say. Her voice still makes me have to suppress a shiver.
I watch blankly as the girl and Luna turn their heads to face me.
"If it isn't Gale Sawyer." She smiles mockingly. "I haven't seen you since high school."
"Yeah, and for a good reason too." I mutter. "Family history catches up to us." A look of slight disgust covers my face as I look her up and down as if sizing her up.
"Fuck off, Gale." Luna growls. Hasn't been long since I've seen her.
"You fuck off." I argue back like a child. We've bickered like this for as long as I can remember, it's almost like a reflex at this point.
"God, Gale, you're such a child!" She groans in annoyance as she walks to where I'm assuming her bed is to finish putting her clothes into her dresser.
I reply with an eye roll, and I find myself looking at the girl who is watching my arms. "Admiring my biceps?" I tease.
Her eyes dart up to my face, widened so slightly it's almost hard to catch. Almost.
"Ignore him, Katherine." Elanor rolls her eyes before throwing a black t-shirt at me which lands straight on the floor.
"So that's your name." I grin at her. "Katherine."
"Oh my God, just go away!" Luna complains as she opens a drawer so aggressively that I'm surprised it doesn't come out of the dresser.
"Ok, bye." I say with a grin before walking away. I hear the door slam shut behind me and for some reason, I cant help the smile that creeps onto my face.
My room is only two doors down from Katherine's room. As I insert my key into the lock, I can't help but wonder who my roommates are.
I turn the key and push the door open, taking the key out, when necessary, before stepping through the door frame.
"Gale mother fucking Sawyer." I hear Zack cheer when he sees me walk through the door. He's wearing a huge grin on his face.
"Zack?!" I cheer back in question. "How are we roommates agai-" I pause. "Your parents paid the college, didn't they?"
"Yup." He replies proudly. "And guess what." I wait for him to continue. "Guess." He demands when I don't immediately ask.
"I'm not going to guess..." I sigh as I walked towards one of the four beds. "Why are there four beds in here? There were three last year..." I dump my box onto the bed that rests beside Zack's.
He smiles at my question. "I got my parents to convince the college to let us have an extra roommate." I somehow already knew what was coming. "Seb and Jasper are pairing with us."
Like they had been summoned by a witch, Sebastian and Jasper appear through the doors. "Hey guys!" Jasper greets cheerfully before looking around the room in confusion. "Why is there four of us?"
"Great question." I smile sarcastically.
"What's got you in a grumpy mood?" Sebastian asks quietly as he walks to the bed across from mine and places his box on it to claim his spot.
"Aw, I wanted that bed." Jasper grumbles as he places his box on the last bed, not even attempting to convince Sebastian's stubborn ass to switch.
"I already started conflict with a girl on the first day." I sigh as I begin placing clothes in the dresser provided that sits beside my bed. "It sucks because she's really hot."
"Do I sense an enemies to lover's trope coming on?" Jasper asks. Unless you had met Jasper, you would have never guessed that he was a book lover. I've found that he seems to like the smutty romance books the most. Probably looking for tips on how to win a girl over.
"No. Don't even start." I growl, grabbing my skateboard out of my box and placing it under my bed.
"Ok, Jeez..." Jasper says sarcastically, throwing his hands in the air, his palms facing me as if he's surrendering.
I grab out a dark silver briefcase from my box and place it under my bed next to my skateboard. "What's in the case?" Jasper asks as he throws himself onto his bed.
Me, Zack, and Sebastian exchange quick glances before I answer. "A... Clarinet?" I try not to cringe at my stupid excuse that I could possibly pay for later.
"You play the clarinet?" Jasper asks in a surprised tone. "I didn't think you would ever puck up an instrument."
"I'm learning privately," I respond with a frown. "And for your information, I play the guitar."
"If you say so..." Jasper says with an eyebrow raised.
**********
The four of us are finally finished unpacking. "Hey, you know that girl that I told you about earlier?" I say mostly to Zack. "The one that definitely hates me? Her dorm in two doors down." I say as I sit down on my bed.
"So?" Zack says.
"Luna Grey and Elanor Sutton are her roommates." I grin when Zack's cheeks redden at the mention of Luna's name.
