Gale's POV

Remember when I said that this girl drives me crazy and I dont know if its in a positive or negative way? Its in a positive way.

I woke up in bed beside Katherine, her head rested on my arm and one of her hands clenched onto my shirt as she held onto me like I was going to dissapear if she let go. My other arm held her close to my torso.

Does this mean we are truly together now...? I wondered to myself.

I lifted my head and looked around the room to see that Elanor was sleeping in her bed. She must have come in while Katherine and I where asleep.

Katherine shifted and her grip on my shirt loosened as she slowly woke up. I brushed a strand of her hair out of her face with my free hand and she gave me a small smile, her eyes still closed.

"Good morning, Tesoro." I smiled.

Her eyes slightly opened. "What does that mean?" She asked. She was still beautiful with bed hair.

"Nothing important." I whispered before lowering my head to kiss her on the forehead.

She smiled as she leaned further into my chest. "What time is it?" She asked. "I need to get to class..."

"Dont worry about classes." I whispered. "You deserve a break."

She hummed and kissed me on the lips before going back to sleep.

**********

Everyone was awake and heading to classes. I hadnt noticed that Zack had been sleeping on the floor where I couldnt see him last night.

I teased him for sleeping on the floor, but truth be told, I would have done tha same if Katherine hadnt asked me to sleep in her bed.

After a while, Katherine, Elanor and I were the only ones left in the room. Elanor picked up her bag and headed to the door before opening it, she turned to Me and Katherine who were still on her bed.

"Make good choices kids." She joked before leaving through the door.

Katherine waited for a while. "Shes in the elevator." She said.

There was a silence before I spoke up. "Katherine?"

"Yeah?" She replied tiredly.

"What are we?" I asked. She became tense beside me. We were quiet. "You dont need to answer right now." I said and she relaxed slightly, but she was still tense.

"Thank you." She whispered.

There was a knock at the door. Katherines head snapped up.

"Ill get it." I said as I removed my arms from around her and got up from her bed. I began walking to the door and the person on the otherside knocked again. "Coming." I spoke loud enought that they could hear.

I reached the door and opened it. There was a guy that was around my height with Dark brown hair. He was wearing sunglasses so I couldnt see his eyes.

There was a grin on his face. "Hello." He said cooly, his voice deep. "Is Katherine in?" He looked over my shoulder and then back at me.

"Why?" I was getting an off feeling about this guy.

"Im an old friend."

"Name?" I asked.

"Hmm." He said as he looked me up and down. "Knox Remington." He tilted his head and stuck out his hand to shake mine.

I shook his hand firmly. "Gale." This interaction felt oddly formal, like one Id have with an elder at a demon hunter ball.

"You're the demon hunter, right?" He said, his grin growing wider.

I stood in silence as he pushed his way past me. He walked towards Katherine who was standing on the otherside of her bed, away from this Knox guy.

I dont like this...

"Hello, Kat." He said with a smile on his face that made him look less threatening... I think...

"Knox." She growled.

"Woah, woah, woah..." He held his hands out. "Ive been gone for two years and this is how you greet me when I come back?" He put his hands over his chest mid-way through his sentance.

"You werent supposed to come back." Katherine muttered, disgusted. She looked over Knoxs shoulder to me. "Get Cameron." She said to me.

I gave her a nod as I dashed out the door.

This Knox guy was definitely a demon and I didnt have anything to take him down with because I didnt want any weapons around Katherine. I wanted her to feel safe.

I could tell that Katherine was frightened befause of the way that she stood on the otherside of her bed.

All I could do was hope that Cameron wouldnt kill me the second he saw me.

**********

I arrived at Camerons dorm and knocked on the door. He opened it before the second time my knuckle touched the door.

He looked furious when he saw my face. "What do you want?" He grumbled. He must have a free period.

"A guy came to Katherines dorm and she told me to get you." I spoke fast so that we could get this over with.

"Name?" He asked quickly.

"Knox, I think?" I replied.

Cameron stepped out of the room and closed the door before he was suddenly gone in a flash. Fucking demon speed... I muttered in my head as I began my run back to Katherines dorm.

I didnt even see Cameron go down the elevator. How the fuck did he get out- All questions were answered when I passed an open window.

**********

I finally arrived back at Katherines dorm, feeling a little puffed out as I pushed the door open and stepped into the room. Knox was tied up with a rope that made his wrists red while Katherine sat on his back so that he couldnt move. There was some duct tape over Knoxs mouth as he grumbled.

His glasses were now off and I could see his eyes. They were a greyish-purple colour. It was almost as if he had coloured contacts in.

Cameron leaned against a wall and glared at me as I walked through the door.

"What is he?" I asked. He was most definitely not a demon. Demons eyes arent like that.

Katherine and Cameron looked at eachother before looking back at me in sync.

"Vampire." Katherine said before slapping Knox in the back of the head when he started laughing.

The tape that was covering Knoxs mouth dissapeared into his mouth and then he spat it out. "Youre forgetting something." He laughed.

Katherine pulled out a roll of duct tape and taped over his mouth again.

"Blood mage." She grumbled as Knox began laughing through the tape again.

"Whats wrong with him?" I asked.

"The ropes are laced with concentrated thyme. Thyme can act as rosemary and sage combined for demons." Cameron answered. "I bet they didnt even tell you that vampires existed in your little demon hunter school."
