They were seated in a cafe, their coffees before them, Becky took a sip and closed her eyes to relish the feeling. She absolutely loved coffee. It always immediately grounded her. And she needed it.
Ever since she’d woken up this morning, on her day off, she’d been thinking about seeing Freen again, it made her heart feel light, the anticipation.
And when they’d met on the corner of the block, she couldn't help the smile that adorned her face when she saw Freen in her jeans and with her favourite oversized hoodie on.
“Hey..”
“Hi.” Freen had said.
“This hoodie…” Becky said, looking at her outfit.
“I can’t bring myself to throw it out, I know it’s ancient,” Freen said with a chuckle as they'd fallen in step together walking towards the cafe.
Becky laughed.
“It is, isn’t it? I think I first remember you wearing it that first week I met Billy.”
Freen smiled. Yep, this hoodie had seen it all. But she loved it. It was precious to her.
“How’s P'Char?” Freen asked once they were seated at a table and their coffees were before them. She took a sip from her own mug.
“She’s alright. She came down to stay with me for a month, a little after you left.” Becky said. Freen nodded.
“Freen, I told her about us.” Becky said, not looking up at her directly. Freen almost spat her coffee out.
“I’m sorry, it’s just… she could see how miserable I was, and if there’s anyone who can see right through my lies, it’s her. She prodded until I came clean, I’m sorry na..”
“No, uh. You don’t need to apologize… She was taking care of you and that’s important to me. I’m not upset that you told her... it’s just…” Freen looked down at her mug, and when she looked up and outside the window beside them, Becky noticed her cheeks reddening.
“Uhhh, Freen? What are you not telling me?” Becky asked, trying to get Freen to look at her.
“Okay what do you know about me and P'Char? In that little time she and I were together?” Freen asked.
“Uh nothing, just that you’ll went on a couple of dates… wait. Did you’ll? I mean did you’ll ever…?” Becky hoped Freen understood her non-words.
Freen bit her lip and then covered her face.
“Oh. My. God! You’ve had sex with us both, my cousin and me.” Becky looked halfway amused, halfway mortified.
Freen reached out and whacked Becky's hand on the table.
“Don’t say it like that. It was two different periods of my life.” Freen chuckled.
“But it’s true isn’t it?” Becky had a teasing smirk on.
“Well yes, but like, I didn’t intentionally want to fuck both of you."
Becky smiled smugly and took a sip of her coffee and said, “but you did.”
“Shut up!” Freen laughed.
She liked this. This banter. Even though it was about them having sex, it was good right? Friendly banter.
“Okay ka, I gotta ask, who was better?” Becky said.
“Becky!” Freen exclaimed.
“Come on!”
“What if you’re not ready to accept the answer?” Freen asked with a raised eyebrow.
