Twitter is a war zone rn but I'm glad Dream is finally allowed to talk about what is happening.

Sorry for the delay, I was debating continuing this book due to writer's block, school, and just the general situation happening with Dream rn.

I don't want this to be discussed here as I want this as a safe space for people who want a break from the "situation."

I'm sick again :(

It's been one year exactly

Hence the name of this chapter.

Dream POV

My fingers nearly slip on the keys but I manage to make it to the other side of the parkour section. A flurry of yellow-orange sparkles floats around me, signaling the completion of the stage.

I use this opportunity to dry my hands on my lap for a split second before continuing.

"C'mon Dream, you got this!" Sapnap cheers. I try to focus on the glass pane jumps, the music fading into the background as I clear the last jump. "Yeahhhh!"

I hear a soft knock at the door and immediately recognize it as Y/N.

"One sec," I slide my headphones off and mute the stream. Once I'm sure they can't hear me, I quickly stand up and unlock the door. "Y/N, what is it?"

I glance down and notice her face is slightly red and she wears my hoodie which is so big it looks like a dress on her.

"You okay?" I soften my tone as Y/N blinks up at me.

Instead of answering, she turns around and coughs and few times. I reach forward and press my hand against her forehead. Hot as a frying pan.

"Darling, are you sick?" I ask, hearing her sniffle a few times.

Y/N nods and points at her throat.

"I woke up with a fever and a sore throat. The congestion came later on," her voice was slightly different than normal and although I find it cute, she's definitely sick.

"You need some rest," I say, noticing her holding her head. "I'll find some medication and soup for you."

Y/N smiles gratefully at me and I scoop her up, carefully carrying her into my bedroom. I slide her under the covers and plant a loving kiss on her forehead which is still burning.

"Sit tight, I'll be back in a second."

I dash back to my computer and quickly unmute, hearing Sapnap talking to chat.

"Sorry guys, I have the end the stream now," I blurt out, already clicking the end stream button.

"Dream—" Sapnap's voice gets cut off as I toss my headphones back on the desk and race downstairs. My foot slips off a stair and I clutch the railing for balance, skipping over the last three at the bottom.

"STOP STOMPING!" Sapnap yells from his room.

I enter the kitchen and open the fridge, searching for some soup. On the second shelf is a bright blue bowl. I reach for it but pause at the sight of the label taped to it.

DO NOT EAT- GEORGE

Oh well, sorry George.

I rip off the taped sign and toss it to the floor.

Girlfriend first.

The soup sloshes around as I carry it to the microwave. I set the timer for a minute and patiently wait as it spins around and around inside.

"Dream?" I hear my name being called and I look up to see Sapnap's head poking around the banister from upstairs. "You good?"

"Yeah," I fish out a spoon from the drawer and rest my hand on the microwave handle. "Y/N is sick so I had to run downstairs to get some soup."

"How nice of you," he laughs, glancing back up the stairs. "Anything I can get?"

"Grab some flu medication from the bathroom," I say, carefully sliding the bowl of hot soup onto the counter. "And a box of tissues if you can."

"You got it!"

After Sapnap's footsteps fade away, I grab a white tray from the cabinet and put the soup bowl on it. The steam floats up as my hand hovers over the bowl, I feel water droplets begin to bead on my fingertips.

With the tray in one hand, and napkin and spoon in the other, I carefully make my way up the stairs, taking extra care not to spill a drop.

As I near our bedroom, I can hear the sound of Y/B coughing. I push down on the handle and swing the door open.

Y/N is sitting upright in bed, the blanket wrapped around her and a tissue pressed against her face.

"You okay?" I take a step closer bad notice the floor is littered with crumpled tissue balls. The trash can sits off to the side, overflowing. "Oh shit."

Y/N nods and turns away to cough in the other direction.

"Well, I brought you some soup," I say, resting the tray at the end of the bed. "Sapnap should be here soon with some medicine and more tissues."

Right on cue, the door swings open and Sapnap's head poked around ur, his hair slightly messy.

"Okay," he mutters, sounding a bit of breath for some reason. After another few seconds, he closes the door halfway behind him and places the box of tissues at the end of the bed before clasping his hands together awkwardly. "I may have made a mess."

This brings a smile to my face and I roll my eyes with a scoff.

"What did you do?"

"Uhm well," his face turns slightly pink and I gently turn Y/N away from him as she breaks into another coughing fit. "You know the cabinet where we keep the tissues and paper towels?"

"Yeah?"

"I may have knocked the whole thing over."

I open my mouth to protest but he quickly cuts me off.

"I put it all back though! And closed the cabinet!"

I sigh defeatedly, knowing the minute I get done there, the cabinet will be open with everything on the floor.

"Oh and also," he tosses a COVID test kit and two black disposable masks onto the bed. "Just to be safe."

He slides another black mask from his pocket and backs toward the door.

"Feel better Y/N."

I watch him gently shut the door before turning to Y/N who has her face buried in a tissue. With a grin, I lean over to kiss her on the forehead.

Y/N smiles but gently pushes my chin away with her hand.

"You're going to get my COVID," she says, balking up the tissue in her hands. "And apparently your immune system is weaker than a fly."

A light giggle escapes my lips as I grab the bottom of Y/N's chin, planting a firm kiss on her lips which are slightly chapped.

"I'll risk it for you."
