The castle in which Mia lived was quite large with windows, much too big to have shutters. She spent most of her time in the library and enjoyed reading, due to the fact that it was the only thing she could do in her house. Her father had just left again on another adventure which left her with her tutors who reminded her often that she wasn't allowed to leave the study. That rule never stayed in place which caused her to get in trouble quite often.

(Mia's pov age 5)

"Mia, please just try to focus, your father is coming home today and I expect you to be on your best behavior." My tutor James proclaimed, "I would be better if my father wasn't away all the time." " I know it's not fair that he gets to travel the world while i'm stuck here, with a stupid child." James scoffed as someone came through the door, "You better hope that's your father!" James ran downstairs quickly as I walked over to the window, I stared at a small girl who was stomping through the snow on her way to the church. I sighed as I was called downstairs, I started down the old creaky stairs I wouldn't have been surprised if my foot fell through the boards. I turned the corner to see my father standing there arm spread open wide, I hugged him as the maids grabbed some tea for him, I got hot chocolate as we both sat down in the old study room which now was used as a map room. I eagerly sat down, I loved when my father came home he would always tell me about the things he explored, and always about a peculiar boy named Laurie. I always loved hearing about him though.

After a few years passed I finally got to meet Laurie, he was around my age about a year older than me. We played in his garden for hours, My father and I spent about a month there until it was time to go. During my time there I soon became friends with the Marches. I would spend everyday hanging out with them, they were quite older than me except Beth, who was my age. On the day I was leaving Laurie gave me a necklace as I returned the favor with a bracelet, a small gold chain with a locket including a daisy seed. I was very sad to leave him, hoping that one day I would be able to see him again.
