As I worked out in the gym on a random Sunday, my phone buzzed with an unexpected message from Rue. I wiped the sweat from my hands and checked the screen, my eyes scanning the invitation to Eva's 18th birthday party.

"Cool," I thought, tossing the phone aside and returning to my reps. But the excitement was short-lived, as a nagging feeling settled in my chest.

I finished my workout and headed to the locker room, my mind wandering back to the party. Eva and I had not been in good terms when we met eachother virtually.

The fight between me and Eva a few months ago still lingered in my mind, leaving a sour taste. I hoped everything would be okay tonight. I don't think I would even be able to introduce Joshua.

I pushed the thoughts aside and headed out of the gym, deciding to focus on the positive. It was Eva's birthday, after all, and I was going to make sure she had an amazing night.

I set a reminder for April 4th, just in case I forgot about Eva's birthday party. After my workout, I grabbed my bike key from the key holder near the gym and headed home. I parked my bike in my residency's parking area, feeling relieved to be back.

As I ate my lunch, I searched for something to keep me entertained and scrolled through the selections of shows and movies. My eyes wandered to the red ink marker on the table, and I reached for it to circle a date on the calendar. I marked April 4th, Eva's birthday, so my family would know I was occupied that day.

April 4th finally arrived, and I woke up feeling excited and enthusiastic about Eva's birthday. However, a lingering uncertainty still lingered in my chest about meeting her. I wasn't sure if I could face her, but I pushed the feeling aside and got ready for the evening's bash.

I was pretty sure Rue had made a reservation at the VIP club, just like she did for my 18th birthday. That party was wild and intimate, with only my closest friends in attendance. I had been adamant that only those who were truly close to me could come and celebrate with me.

As I prepared for the night ahead, my mind wandered back to Eva and our complicated history. I took a deep breath, hoping that tonight would be a night to remember, and that I could put my doubts aside and enjoy the celebration.

I got dressed in my black shirt and trousers, a classic combination that always made me feel confident. I added a splash of my favorite cologne, feeling the scent invigorate me. Finally, I put on my watch, a sleek accessory that completed my outfit. With a final check in the mirror, I was ready to head out and celebrate Eva's birthday in style.

Mark stood by the door, looking dashing and effortlessly handsome. I couldn't help but think that all the ladies would be swooning over him tonight.

"Ready to go?" he asked, turning to me with a charming smile. "Ready to go!" I replied, approaching him and playfully grabbing his glasses.

"Hey, what are you doing?" he winced, his eyes squinting slightly without his prized computer glasses. I teased him, "Take them off at least for today!" But he quickly brushed my hand away, protecting his beloved specs.

We drove to the venue, parked our car, and stepped out into the lively atmosphere. As we approached the entrance, Mark finally returned Rue's numerous missed calls.
