As the speaker's final words echoed through the hall, I turned to share a triumphant smile with Eva, but my gaze fell on a vacant space. She was gone. A chill ran down my spine, leaving a trail of unease in its wake. I frantically scanned the crowded hall, my eyes darting back and forth, but there was no sign of her. The lights and laughter seemed to blur together as my mind raced with worry.

I pushed through the throngs of people, my long strides devouring the distance. I checked the food section, but she wasn't there either. Growing more desperate, I approached the washroom area and asked the lady outside, "Have you seen a girl in a green silk dress?"

She shook her head, her expression sympathetic. "No, she's not here."

Panic began to set in. Where could she have gone? Did she get kidnapped? I rushed towards the drink bar, my eyes frantically scanning the crowds, but she was nowhere to be found. I asked the waiter, my voice shaking with worry, "Have you seen her?"

He shook his head, his expression apologetic. "No, I haven't seen her."

My mind was racing. Where could she be? I felt a sense of desperation creeping in. I had to find her. I couldn't lose her. Not now, not ever. I was starting to feel like I was losing my grip on reality. I had to think clearly and come up with a plan to find her.

I took a deep breath and tried to calm down. I would find her, no matter what it took. I would leave no stone unturned. I would search every corner of this place until I found her. And when I did, I would never let her out of my sight again.

I burst out of the grand hall, my heart racing with every step. I approached the coat check attendant, my voice urgent. "Have you seen a girl in a green silk dress?"

He nodded, his expression concerned. "Yes, she ran outside like she was in a hurry. I told her to take her coat, but she didn't listen to me."

I let out a sharp breath, my mind racing with worst-case scenarios. I grabbed our coats and rushed in the direction he pointed, my eyes scanning the darkness for any sign of her.

As I walked, I frantically texted her, my thumbs flying across the screen. "Eva, where are you? Please respond." But there was only silence. I tried calling her, but it went straight to voicemail.

My anxiety spiked with every passing moment. Where was she? Why wasn't she responding? I quickened my pace, my heart pounding in my chest. I had to find her. I couldn't lose her.

The cool night air hit me like a slap in the face, but I didn't slow down. I kept moving, my eyes scanning the shadows for any sign of her green silk dress. But she was nowhere to be found.

I combed the garden, but she was nowhere to be found. I got into my car and began searching the surrounding areas, my heart racing with every passing moment. As I drove, I noticed a small garden nestled near the river and pulled over to investigate.

That's when I saw her - a glimpse of green standing near the river bridge. My heart skipped a beat as I approached cautiously, my eyes welling up with tears. As I got closer, I confirmed it was Eva, standing on the small bridge, gazing out at the river water.

My steps slowed, and I felt a lump form in my throat. I gently placed a hand on her shoulder, and she turned to me. But it was I, Joshua, who was crying, my eyes red-rimmed from the fear and worry that had gripped me. Eva's expression was calm, but concerned, as she took in my tear-stained face.
